* WHAT’S IT LIKE BEING DEAD?
maybe it was a bad idea introducing papyrus to the theory of absolute candor, but he can’t help the question that slips out. he’s never been one to hold back on honesty. he always speaks his mind. and it’s a valid question.
* CAN YOU STILL FEEL THINGS?
@ruiincd said: ways your muse says i love you and your muse’s thoughts on cops and other authority figures.
undyne is a fish lady of action. her ways of saying i love you are almost always action-oriented. making sure to remember an important fact/date/detail, going out of her way to get someone something she knows they’d like, hugs and more often rather roughhouse-y means of affection like a noogie or a loving tackle. doing favors for others without them asking is another. cooking someone a painstakingly-made hot meal (and making something that isn’t cheap instanoodles). and above all, being overprotective is her ultimate way of letting someone know she loves them. she’d fight tooth and fin for the people she loves. she’d sooner die for someone than see any harm come to them.
undyne says ACAB as for her thoughts on authority figures well. undyne is kind of THE authority figure of the underground, besides asgore. she’s the head of the royal guard and she idolizes asgore for quite a while. so her opinion on authority figures is that... they’re needed but they should be working for the good of everyone. she sees her position as one of the utmost importance, she’s the first line of defense for protecting monsterkind. undyne loves her fellow monsters. she does what she does for them. it’s why she fights so hard, why she’s so determined to help free them from the underground.
and as a former rebel without a cause, undyne totally understands the delinquent/rabble rouser/troublemaker viewpoint. she was just like that when she was a kid. so instead of being a total bastard to monster-kids who are like that, maybe going down the wrong path a little, she’s going to reach out and try to guide them, offer help to them in the same way gerson and asgore did for her.
hey, what do YOU know about screaming fish ladies??
@ruiincd said... A visitor stands in his garden, donned in a sweater of green and yellow. Their face is too familiar and their habit of wringing their sleeves out of nervousness is too masterful for them to be any sort of fake. "...Hey, dad."
Shock, the initial reaction to seeing what has to be a ghost. But Asgore has seen ghosts, ghosts exist in the underground, but this is no ghost. This is --
“Chara...?” It’s not a question, and yet he can’t believe it. Watering can drops to the ground, crushing a small patch of flowers. The ground soaks beneath his feet, but he doesn’t notice. Better to not question what’s right in front of him. And if it all turns out to be a vision, or an elaborate prank, then at least he has nothing to lose -- and everything to gain.
In two strides, the monster king has crossed his garden to his child, and scoops them up in his arms in a huge bear ( goat? ) hug. No words, since he’s pretty sure he would just start crying. Oh look, he’s crying anyway.

“Oh...” Miranda’s nerves still weren’t quite eased, not by a long shot -- she was unsurprisingly easy to startle as ever, and her mind still tugged at the idea that her paranoia was right and something was wrong about the situation -- but it had been reduced to a far more manageable level. A level of which Miranda could shove off the feelings and realize, yes, this child probably wasn’t out for merprincess blood and the paranoia was just that - paranoia.
The sound had seemed more like something dangerous, but the explanation was easy enough to grasp, and the demonstration of the small buds quite literally echoing Chara’s words solidified it as a non-issue. Miri could handle that. Her fins twitched and tilted, searching for any other out-of-place noises, but she relaxed, her tail lowering to rest onto the greenhouse path while she leaned over to investigate one of the flowers.
Indeed, they were quite pretty. They called forth Miranda’s memories of the palace gardens, the coral that was carefully cultured and grown over many centuries, images of Miri’s childhood, of happier times. Their breeds had long since been modified to handle the deep sea and really wouldn’t survive without mer caring for their domesticated selves, but they too glowed in a magnificent array of colors. Most were blue, but some pulsated in green or yellow, a few even in reds - and plenty had been bred to produce intricate patterns of colors or even give off light shows that could be timed to respond to songs and sounds. The corals didn’t make sound themselves, of course, but that just made the little flowers all the more special. Miranda’s hand lifted to slowly brush over one of the blossoms, delicate as could be to avoid hurting the plant, simply admiring it.
“Oh no, no - I had just come by to see if someone was here, but it seems they’re elsewhere currently. It is not terribly time-sensitive, at least.” A glance back over to Chara, Miranda’s eyes squinting as she tried to place whether she knew who this was or not. The tip of her fin twitched as she thought, but ultimately came up blank, though she was pretty sure she had seen them around before, somewhere. But, once again, Miranda’s memory failed her. “Who are you? I don’t think we’ve met before. Are you waiting for someone?”

47. Do you listen to any fanmade songs? If so, then which are your favourite? hehehehe well, YOU introduced me to my all-time favorite, which is ori eta’s megalovania vocal cover. i am not exaggerating when i say i sing/listen to it at least once a day. i downloaded it and saved it to my phone. when i need to pass the time when i take my dogs out, i sing it. i sing it in the shower. whenever i hear megalovania, this is the version i hear. i made it my promo. it’s IMPORTANT to me. other than that, the whole undertale the musical thing is my jam. i know most of those songs by heart too, and those are what i hear when i hear the original tracks. in terms of other standalones, i mostly listen to instrumental covers rather than vocal covers or original songs but! hard drive by griffinila is i think the first undertale fan song i ever listened to (thanks moth!!) and they need a monster by mandopony of course is a classic that i could listen to on repeat. but also, my friend @3dnygma has written some undertale-inspired original instrumentals that i want to plug. and my fav instrumental albums are probably the path of genocide and the tale of a pacifist by cloudjumper, ghost sandwich by cement city, and strings of determination by string player game.
60. Which battle was the hardest for you? my first time playing, undyne. by a LONG shot. it was so different from the normal bullet hell (which i could barely handle), and it took me a few days to beat her. i ended up breaking my self-imposed pacifism rules (which i set AFTER killing toriel) because i NEEDED to get stronger. now i’m quite good at it and mettaton is probably hardest (at least in pacifist/neutral). but when i did my genocide run (a year ago on tuesday??) undyne the undying’s battle took me. eight hours. spread over two days. it was HORRIBLE and honestly the main reason i’d never do it again is because i don’t think i could beat her a second time.

Asriel. Asriel. It’s been too long since he’s been called that -- at least by someone who knew, who knew him then, who understood. Fitting, that he should turn into a flower, be cursed to live out his days as the very thing that led to his demise, and to be the terrible creature humans had once assumed he was. How harmless he looks now -- if only they could all see what he’d become.
Face turns to look at the other, watching him with.... an expression he can’t read. Is it pity? He doesn’t want to be pitied, or felt bad for, or apologized to, or talked down to.
“I had a feeling you were.” He can’t explain it -- just a sense he had. “But I always figured it was wishful thinking. Wanting every human who fell to be you so badly that I just pretended. This last one especially. I don’t know, something about them...” This is the most honest he’s been with anyone since becoming this. “I don’t know what I was thinking.”
At their comment about deserving, he shakes his head rapidly. “You didn’t. You didn’t deserve anything that happened, and I shouldn’t have let you just--” He stops. That’s not an apology, and he doesn’t intend to make one -- needed or not. “It’s over now, right?” A sigh. “What do you mean you have something for me? What is it?”

sans wouldn’t admit it, but he’s been stalling his own descent down the mountain for as long as possible. he knows that this initial walk won’t be the last time he sees his home -- there is business to take care of, belongings to sort through, boxes to pack and move. yet he can’t help feeling apprehensive about such sudden changes, and so he wanders over to the edge of the cliff face, standing next to where a human ( or a once-human ) now sits. it’s been a long time. the royal child, and the nephew of the royal scientist. remembering the time they spent together so many years ago proves more difficult than he would’ve thought.
* sure. * i mean.... * i guess not.
it’s not as much of a surprise has one might think. then again, nothing surprises him much anymore.
* don’t flatter yourself. * why are you still up here?
