I always see "SLAANESH IS NOT A SEX GOD, THEY'RE THE GOD OF EXCESS AND THAT COULD MEAN ANYTHING ACTUALLY, THAT COULD MEAN MOPPING TOO MUCH IF YOU LOVE CLEANING--" takes and that seems...inaccurate?

Not saying Slaanesh is a god of sex, but "god of excess" seems like a sort of disingenuous oversimplification used by people uncomfortable with the hypersexuality of Slaaneshi cultists.

Sure, yeah there's excess going on, but why is anyone doing [x] to an excessive degree? Because it induces pleasure, thats the underlying mechanism. Slaanesh is the god of sensation-seeking.

If it really was just about doing anything you enjoy too much, there'd be a slew of Ultramarines who end up corrupted over their excessive love of filing paperwork, but you never do see that sort of shit.

It's about chasing extreme stimuli. That's why you've got noise marines, that's why Slaaneshi adherents love doing drugs, that's why they love feasting and fucking, it's why Cyrion gets a thrill from causing fear, etc. Sensation is the core thing here.

It's all a very blatant metaphor for addiction and, like real world addiction, you can get addicted to anything...but lets be real, the people addicted to drugs and sex far outnumber the people addicted to sniffing armpits or scrubbing grout with a toothbrush

So why get frustrated when people largely portray Slaaneshi adherents as sex-crazed, drug-huffing sadists? That is how it would manifest.

I'm unpacking my treasured collection of Weird Relics because I've finally moved into a house that's big enough to display anything ever, and man, does anyone else remember that time around 2010 or so when Relentless Energy went through a Warhammer Chaos phase? This is the full set of cans that were available in that era and not only were they gorgeous, but aside from Origin/Undivided, the variant flavour colours and names are, well... that sequence of designs pretty much is Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeentch and Slaanesh aesthetics, beat for beat. The cans even have classic poetry quotes on them and the designs were so complex, plus all the flavours were awesome (except that I couldn't drink Libertus because artificial sweeteners disagree with me).

Man, I miss these so much.

OK, OK, it escalated a bit; thanks to inspirational activities by the @thievinghippo I had an idea to try doing a sketch of my RT, and so I did a sketch and then I felt good about it and then I remembered about the fun in the reactor, and I just had to add the fun, you see.

This month’s free mini was this excellent little marauder from the new Darkoath box.

I don’t know much about the Darkoath lot beyond their allegiance to the ruinous powers so I tried to make sure all five chaos gods were represented from a colour perspective (red for Khorne, blue for Tzeentch, purple for Slaanesh, green for Nurgle and brown for the Horned Rat)

I’m definitely improving on faces and skin 😅🤣
