      They weren’t even levitating at the moment...Their long body curled up like a common snake, a cobra even. They seemed to be doing the same thing, staring with those beating yellow eyes. Intense, and topaz-like. They were waiting...What was this child doing here?

HEAVY RAIN had started to fall on ROUTE 119. it had caught them mid-battle -- little, bearable drops became hefty, and soon the WEATHER was against them. willow had ran under the bridge, LASAGNA in tow, covering her head with her jacket. as the fellow trainer followed her, she gave them a little space under the cloth.

and then, they had spent some minutes there, listening to the rain rattling above them in silence.

“ so ... ” she’s the one who breaks it however, while her fingers aimlessly stroke the AIPOM’s ears. “ doesn’t seem like it’s gonna stop ... ”

“ hey ... is it OK if we do a lil’ RAIN CHECK on th’ battle for now ? we can totally start it again another time ! ”

      Oh.       They didn’t even notice where they were wandering...Sometimes that happened, they supposed. Caught in thought and then the beast would find them-self in a place briefly unfamiliar or otherwise different from where they were used to. Sometimes it caused issues...sometimes it was simply the middle of the forest. In this case, they were quite lucky. No issues, they believed, just the middle of a forest--or perhaps a park. Either way, it was...relaxing. Despite their intention to walk among people for a period of time, and one that they did not mind, they quite enjoyed it actually...That is when there were no issues...Even despite that, they still did find them-self craving the seclusion. The ability to simply fly in a place where all there was...was emptiness and the occasional minior or meteroid to devour. It was a life they loved, one that they very frequently interrupted their little trips and acts to participate in. That of course required they be alone...Which in this case they believed they were.

      The tall man was this close to removing the illusion when they heard something behind them. A grimace pressed over their lips, teeth gritting against each other--for a moment they looked sharp--before turning their head to look.

      Ah...

      “ Pardon me. I was under the impression I was alone. ”

      They murmured, staring at the trainer with a hint of irritation mixed with just an inch of boredom.

there  was  a  brief  pause  as  his  eye  swept  over  the  other’s  message  —  though  instead  of  looking  offended  by  the  accusation  (  or  observation,  as  it  was  really  quite  obvious  )  scout  appeared  rather  DELIGHTED.      ❝  hmm,  you  think?  ❞      he  propped  up  his  chin  on  a  hand  and  smiled.      ❝  i  dunno.  i  mean . . .  for  starters,  i’m  not  toootally  blind  —  only  half!  ❞      a  laugh.  hey,  if  he  couldn’t  crack  a  joke  here  and  there  about  his  utter  lack  of  depth  perception,  what  was  the  POINT?

❝  ah . . .  okay,  maaaybe  you  might  be  on  to  something  there.  but  is  that  really  such  a  bad  thing?  ❞      wasn’t  loyalty  supposed  to  be  a  GOOD  quality?      ❝  i  mean,  having  someone  or  something  you  just . . .  pour  aaall  of  your  faith  into  is  kinda  awesome.  i  don’t  have  to  THINK  for  myself  or  worry  about  my  future  or  my  whole  purpose  in  life.  what  the  HECK  are  taxes?  ❞      he  dramatically  threw  his  arms  up.      ❝  i  don’t  know!  and  i’ll  never  need  to  know  either  —  i  just  have  my  own  little  place  in  the  world,  with  a  few  good  friends  to  share  it  with.  ❞      or,  well.  coworkers,  technically.  same  difference,  from  scout’s  perspective.

the  admin  leaned  back  in  his  seat,  shrugging  a  shoulder.      ❝  if  living  in  a  way  that  makes  me  HAPPY  is  wrong,  i  don’t  wanna  be  right.  ❞      it  was  as  simple  as  that.  (  to  him,  anyway.  )

He squints up at the paper, his nose crinkling up in distaste.

Was it an arrogant thing to claim? Absolutely. Was it true? Well... yes. Pikachu was indeed one in a million, a talking pokemon holding down a job that frequently put in him danger, and his reputation alone was an incredible testament to his investigative abilities.

                     ❝  They have more knowledge, sure. That’s not special - it ain’t hard to outsmart a rodent. But I have the clients they’ve given up on as lost causes or dead end leads, and I’m the one workin’ with ‘em and believin’ we’ll get to the bottom of their cases. To be entirely honest, Valère wasn’t sure which of the two he was. Maybe both. Probably both. But he was gonna have some fun with the trainer either way.

“Hey kid, why so tense?” He took a few careful steps foreword, fishing his Roserade’s pokéball out of his pocket as he did so and releasing her in a flash of light. The whistle was a bit confusing to him-were they going to call for help? They were just more likely to make themselves a target for other shady people that way, and Val could easily be gone before anyone arrived. “I’m just giving you a warning, that’s all. Unless you’ve got something nice on ya.

“Betua, if you wouldn’t mind...”

With a curt nod, the Roserade flicked her wrists and unleased a shower of flower petals, breezing towards the young trainer and their own Pokémon. It wasn’t intended to do any harm-just obscure their vision and maybe spook them a little. Of course, it could always be misinterpreted...

“You’re better off staying away from places like this, kid, no matter the time of day. I’d suggest you run before any real trouble comes.”
