🧩 RUKI’S ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY — ANIMATIC 🧩
All art is drawn (very quickly, I apologize 💀) by the admin of this blog. It was my utmost pleasure drawing just a handful of the OCs I have interacted with here on tumblr and I hope you all enjoy! One day I’ll go and render the shots of these characters in my legitimate art style but for now this is all I had the time for, unfortunately. Nonetheless, it was a lot of fun making this and I learned a lot from it.

A wild Ruki appeared!

"Why the serious face, Scarlett? You're beginning to unsettle me. It's unlike you to approach me with a look I haven't quite seen on you before," a slight frown soured his features in anticipation of the conversation to follow. "You wished to discuss a matter of importance, so out with it already. Do proceed... This ought to be very amusing, but do remember I've little patience for those who delay me any longer than necessary."

On the week of Valentine's, a not-so-anonymous rose was sent to Ruki. There was only a black feather from the sender left behind, and a cinnamon cookie.
"Ah, a crow's feather... No doubt this was Scarlett's doing. Truth be told, if she didn't leave behind one of her feathers, I would've mistaken these gifts for just any other suitor's poor attempt at earning my affection. Not because I don't appreciate a fully blossomed red rose, but because it's unlike her to go so far for me."
Picking up the floral gem reminiscent of his favorite sanguine treat, Ruki lingered on the thought as he held up the rose to his nose, its enchanting aroma quickly permeating his surroundings.
"Or so I thought."
Next, he removed the flower from his countenance and reluctantly took a bite of the cookie, pleasantly surprised upon discovering how mild it tasted compared to the exaggerated cloying flavor he expected. The crispy exterior complemented its softer inner counterpart despite not being partial to baked desserts or sweets.
"Hm... Not bad," he praised to himself, "not bad at all. You don't need to be a genius to know that red roses are typically a token of love, especially on a day like Valentine's, no less. However, it's quite cheeky of her to send this to me without even doing so face-to-face. I suppose I shall have to give her a piece of mind next time I see her."
“After all that happened and all we have been through, I believe that nothing I decide to give you would top the gift of getting along with you again. That little brooch, the hint of hope, the timeless memories that stay in the past… or try to.” Scarlett rambled to herself, wandering side by side, restless, at the same time. “I wouldn’t be able to come up with a better gift even if I tried.”
(Well...)
“Ah... Will any Christmas be like the last? Probably not. I’m only happy I don’t have to give you coal like I once considered.”
“And I know you may not be fond of meaningless gifts…”
“...But, I’m a lady of my word.”
“Don't hate me for this. But maybe you will pamper your inner child with these.”
She delivered a tiny bag with a box inside. A box of...
Yes, crayons.
“I'm being nice and I'm not giving you a book with them. Haha~”
“Merry Christmas~ ”
“There is no inner child and there will absolutely be no pampering, Scarlett. Rest assured, it will take more than some silly box of crayons for me to possibly hate you, though. I can’t promise I’ll make the most of your gift, but I got you something nice as well. Something only someone of your countless, long-lived years can fully appreciate. Who knows, it may even help keep your mind sharp as you age older and older.”
Despite saying everything with a fairly stoic and calm expression, albeit with a slight tinge of exasperation, Ruki hesitantly accepted the box of crayons, planning on shoving it into a drawer never to see the light of day again. Had it been someone else gifting him the coloring utensils, he would assuredly discard the item, and even worse, punish the one who thought it wise to gift a Vampire something so juvenile.
“Well, I’m certainly no artist, but perhaps you can let your creativity run with the wind.”
Handing Scarlett a carefully wrapped present adorned in an almost iridescent silver, the contents of the gift would reveal a knitting and sewing kit, complete with needles and thread of myriads of colors.
“Old ladies typically idle their time knitting, no? That being said, I figured this would be the most opportune present for you. Merry Christmas, Scarlett. I can’t wait to see what kind of apparel you come up with. Perhaps I should’ve bought a cane for you as well? We can never predict when you’ll need more support to get from one place to the other. Should worse come to worst…”
Without warning, both of the Vampire’s arms coiled around Scarlett, lifting her off her feet in his embrace as he let out a dark chuckle before gazing into her radiant amethysts.
“…You can rely on me rather than a cane. Kidding, of course. But it’s true that I will always be here for you.”
🎄Mrs. Claus has appeared!
“Ruki!” Scarlett found Ruki while looking for something or someone else around the city, without any luck so far, “Ruki! Ruki! Ruki—!”
Casually wearing her Christmas outfit, many eyes were probably caught as she trotted on her heels as quickly as she could –which wasn’t too quick– to go up to him, while repeating his name.
“Listen! We’re not fighting anymore, right? I won’t give you the crayons I promised if you help me!”
. . . . . .
“...unless you still want them, but—! Please?”

“Scarlett—?! First of all, why are you dressed like that? You have more festivity than Santa himself—”
From the rope draped over her shoulder to the Mrs. Claus ensemble, a dreadful realization clicked in Ruki’s head.
“…No. Don’t tell me… You want me to help you catch Santa Claus, don’t you? Ah, that’s right.”
An almost mischievous smirk crossed his face in faint recollection of his plan for this Christmas. The plead for help in her radiant amethysts shone so sincerely that he had no choice but to stifle a chuckle watching how desperately this apparent Mrs. Claus sought to locate one whom children revered and celebrated as a jolly man, delivering presents to everyone nice and coal to everyone naughty.
“Why, of course I can help you, Scarlett. I suppose it wouldn’t be fair of me to keep insisting the one you seek truly doesn’t exist in this world without even giving you a chance to find him,” he played along. “Two sets of eyes are better than one, after all. As you may have already surmised, it’s a walk in the park for Vampires to track down a specific person in question.”
Vitriol bloomed in his eyes like a mistletoe’s toxin as he took a step closer towards the Ghoul.
“Who knows, he may be closer than we think.”
hi admin and ruki! i love your blog and how you interact with so many people!! i hope to join one day too but for now im curious about something.. i read you were here for almost a year and thats awesome! i hope this is not too intrusive but is there any oc that has been around since the beginning and is still having interactions with ruki? i saw many ocs here but im curious about who has been here the longest so far! what are rukis thoughts on them after all this time?

🧩 So basically what Ruki was trying to tell you is that there's always room for more people to interact, ahaha. I try to keep up my interactions with everyone even if the number only increases from here, so I sincerely thank you for your kind words, dear Anon! Forging a safe place for everyone to interact with Ruki on this blog is one of my greatest pleasures in life and I hope to continue for many years in the future, or for as long as my creativity will permit me to do so. But do take your time if you are still hesitant or working on your OC as of now, and there is no need to be in a hurry. Whenever you decide to interact off anonymous, I'll be welcoming you with open arms!
Regarding the OCs who have been here since around the beginning and stayed for this long, I would like to thank each and every one of them including their wonderful admins who I also happen to be close friends with. There are three who come to mind and I will list them in order of who interacted with me first.
1. @kauzebridgerton — Kauze Bridgerton, in his child form. He is a Founder who lost both his parents, which is why Ruki has such a soft spot for him. After what he experienced in his own youth, he doesn't want Kauze to go through the same hardships as he once did.
2. @kindan-no-kanojo — Scarlett Wakahisa, a musically gifted Ghoul. Without spoiling more than I should, obviously she was once a human who has turned into a Ghoul under mysterious circumstances (looking at the typical DL antagonist here) who not only knows her way around a piano, but is also very dominant in personality despite Ghouls being indentured to Vampires in the DL universe.
3. @iricathel — Irina Avenel, princess of the Owl clan. The Owl clan is actually a clan that Admin Lina made herself, so one could say it is the hidden 'fifth clan' in this AU. Behind a pretty face lies a woman who suffered many hardships in the royal upbringing of her family, mostly seen as a political tool by her father who is currently the king, yet she will one day rise and show what she is capable of despite the seemingly innocent idol occupation and the mundane side of life. 🧩

"Ah, Kauze... It's been almost a year since we met. Even now I can hardly believe that I would look after a young child like him, but I don't regret a single second of it. By now, her hatred for me is very much understandable, even I can admit. Not only did I confine her against her will, but I assaulted her and took her blood on many occasions. Obviously she would despite my guts after an ordeal like that, which is why I eventually set her free. I only know a glimpse of what she has suffered at the hands of others, but I could tell the dungeon atmosphere quickly brought her back to memories that are better left forgotten and never forgiven. As much as we clash with each other, I wish to make amends someday."
