An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
A first date, a first kiss, a wedding, a po-leg-cule, and some pure fluff! Some treats for all the other Rukutsu (and I guess Ritsukutsu and Tekutsu) shippers out there! all 3 of you...
musings, commentary, and non-fluffy fics under the cut
That first drawing up there was the first time I drew this particular crackship, though the idea had been floating around in my head for some time at that point. I originally thought of shipping Teto with Meikutsu, then Ruko, then Ritsu, and arrived at the headcanon that Meikutsu is specifically attracted to nonbinary or gnc people with pretty shoes. (I actually think Ruko's shoes are boring, but changing those is always an option...) I choose to believe that Ruko is a language nerd in every universe, and made that pun up there out loud during their date. Meikutsu also used some brilliant wordplay, which was unfortunately wasted on Ruko, who couldn't understand it yet.
The second drawing, as you can tell by the toenail polish colours and shoe designs, was made specifically to tie in with The Wheel of Legs and its Black-and-Blue-Haired Royal. If you look closely, Miku's 'yari paddle' is actually a modified yaoi paddle.
The drawing of the Ruterikutsu polycule was made to go with this significantly less fluffy Kagerou Project fic:

I can only assume it's a group photo taken before everything went so wrong... (and yes, that is the Ultimate Chimera on Teto's top.)
Some doodles to go with a tragedy, inspired by the song "I Want to Be Your Heart" by YurryCanon:

I left discussing the wedding pic to near the end since I have so much to say about it!
first things first, Ruko is 23 years old there so don't be weird
That drawing features mangled lyrics to the song "Magnet", bilateral gynandromorph butterfly hair accessories vaguely inspired by said song, a suit-dress fusion, a bowtie-mini-necktie fusion, weird toeless socks, glass slippers, the number 92 (somewhat hidden, pronounced ku-tsu)(65, pronounced roku-go, was supposed to be in this drawing too, but is almost entirely covered up), ashoka flowers, coltsfoot, a lady's slipper orchid, bird's foot violets, hare's foot clover, an abstract shoujo sparkle background, and a pair of perfect sole-mates!
Meikutsu doesn't have an official number (as far as I know), but I noticed the potential for goroawase on my own. "Kutsu" means "shoe"!
All the flowers in the drawing are associated with feet or footwear. The ones that might not be obvious are the ashoka flowers. Those are there because legend has it they only bloom when touched by the feet of a beautiful woman!
I stayed up all night working on it, and by 4 am, I really did feel like I had been at their wedding that night... From now on I'll forever think of June 2nd as their anniversary. (perfectly at the start of pride month, and so close to Ruko Day...!) Hope I can celebrate it for years to come! (And I'd really love it if anyone else chose to make art for it too!)
When I started working on that piece, I was going to leave it up to the viewer whether or not that was the same Meikutsu that later murders its spouse, Ruko, in this dark comedy:

But the longer I worked on it, the more I realized that wasn't the case. Instead, I now think of it as the Meikutsu from Ashindoorillon (link below), finally moving on, years after the plot. Ruko doesn't care about its horrible past. They will go on to live happily ever after, in a beautiful house with sliding glass doors, to avoid triggering Meikutsu's door-creaking-related PTSD (that makes sense in context, I promise).

Update: Ashindoorillon now has a sequel! Five years after that haunting incident, Meikutsu finally meets someone who helps it move on to a happy ending...

And finally, though it has no tie-in art (yet), and doesn't feature romance, I'm sure some of you will be interested in this... unique... take on Mother 3's final battle:

Originally the ship I came up with was actually Teto x Meikutsu, for my future tomodachi life island (still don't have the game yet, but here's hoping...!)
But my favourite vocal synth is Ruko, so naturally I thought about that next, and then I drew this:
