For this year's pride month I would like to show you all my budgies polycule and how they manage it.
Basically my flock of 5(formerly 6) homosexual female budgies plus a male and their bonded pairs
The main gfs were Nami and Amora. Unfortunately Amora has passed away :(
They were always together and bonded in various ways. Amora was very clingy.
Now the main I'd say is Nami and Yura.
They DESPISED each other at first. Like, they couldn't be on the same perch and would argue constantly and never bond. Well, it was mostly Nami. But Amora died soon after I got Yura so maybe the fact Nami lost the bird she was most bonded to was the reason she didn't get along with Yura, who knows.
Now they kiss all the time :D they still argue a bit tho
These are Safira and Kiku. They are older than the others, and due to being English budgies, they are also a bit more quiet and less energetic.
Despite Amora and Nami being more bonded, they had their other girlfriends. Amora had Kiku and Nami had Safira. Amora also bonded a little with Safira but she was more insistent on Kiku and Nami. Again, she was very clingy. Yura is too actually.
Now that Amora isn't here anymore, Nami also bonds with Kiku when she can and sometimes Kiku lets her, but Kiku is a bit antisocial and prefers to be left alone in general. Kiku and Safira don't dislike each other but also don't bond with each other.
Yura mounts all the girls and they let her. That's all I have to say about her. She also scares me cuz she bites for fun...
These are Yuki (boy) and... well, I haven't chosen a name for her yet💔
Yuki tries to get the girls attention but they kind of ignore him and push him away... Safira allows him to preen her sometimes tho and will (rarely) preen him back. I'm pretty sure they're all lesbians except Safira who is apparently bi.
The nameless one is more antisocial than Kiku so she barely has any interactions with the others and would rather be left alone. Despite this, Yura has managed to get to her too so... (no one can escape Yura tbh)
Anyway, here's a diagram of my flocks polycule with arrows to show who is bonded to who so it's easier to understand!
(Do note that some arrows have tips on both ends and some only on one end. Some of the birds will like to be preened but won't preen back, so some of them are more interested in bonding than the other and the arrows show that)
