so i was doing some fic research on men's engagement rings and found this esquire article of ten best engagement rings for men and uhhh look at the banner for it

it's not simply a "love" ring in that that's what it's called, it's a symbol of everlasting love, of being locked to another person.

hm, does anybody else notice that force's doesn't really fit on his forefinger either?

and, since they have a matching pair, being locked to each other. this is a ring that says "forever." also, you can get it engraved:

do you think force got them engraved? 👀 why else would it have taken so long for him to get them? i doubt it was a simple shipping issue...

yeah, so. forcebook are engaged. i know i've already been saying it, this information is not all that fresh... but they are so engaged.

the sydrian fic for @retiredficwriter is DONE and is going to be up for whumptober!!!!!!!! i just need to ask my buddy to beta read it :3 and then choose which prompt day to post!

for funsies, here is a passage i had to cut because it technically didn't make sense (they check ID! why would she serve him if she thinks his ID is fake? and what other reason would she have to play this game?) and was kind of out of place in the context/theming, but i still think it's cute:

“Thanks, Gladys,” Adrian said to the bartender as we were leaving.  She chortled softly to herself and shook her head. “Have a nice night, pretty boy.” She nodded at me. “Pretty girl.” “Th-thank you, ma’am,” I responded, flustered. “You too.” That also made her laugh. “You even know the bartender’s name?” I asked Adrian incredulously when we reached the door. I tried not to sound too judgmental. “How often are you here?” “No, she refuses to tell me her name—probably because she knows I gave her a fake one—so I try something new every time.” I laughed. “Finally, a woman you can’t charm into giving you what you want.” “Ha!” But his mirth didn’t last, turning surprisingly pensive when he glanced at me.

the bartender's real name is Queenie, btw.

some spoilers for the ep 5 pwp i've been working on, but since i was sure that book!botpleng wasn't diary!botpleng, i started weaving it into the narrative (for lack of a better word, since it's a pwp) and using a bunch of thematic imagery to counter the recurring theme of "melody" (even the fic title!) and here's a snippet of my notes about that:

[...]it’s the same with how botpleng didn’t hear the melody in the leaves but he did hear the waterfall: he notices details that are real, not ethereal or poetical. he deals in facts not flourishes.

which, interestingly, i've seen thai-speakers say that tontharn means the head of a stream? so him noticing the waterfall was a hint! :D and i picked up on it! :D i'm still going to focus more on the above because i reeeeeeeeally love this line that i already wrote:

For the first time in ten years, Botpleng isn’t searching for a melody.

and leaning into waterfall imagery in a pwp could get pretty gross lol

here's an excerpt from the sequel one shot i'm writing to the sydrian role reversal au she wrote for me!!! it was kind of hard to pick a passage because most of what i've written is dialogue (shocker) and a lot of it is spoilerish. i think i settled on the right one :3c

“You didn’t want to be an Alchemist?” I guessed before continuing to sip my coffee.

“Pretty obvious, huh? I’m no good at it,” he said, gesturing to me with his empty martini glass. “I mean, I’m a semi-functioning alcoholic, in a bar on a weeknight, drinking with an underage Moroi.” 

“You’re taking care of me,” I reasoned slyly, licking cream off my upper lip. “You think there’s anything you could do to stop me from being here?” 

Adrian chuckled, his brilliant green eyes twinkling like emeralds. “I don’t think the Alchemists would see it that way. Maybe if I explained what a pain in the ass you are,” he teased. He ordered another Vesper. I doubted it was his second.
