My alarm goes off at 7:45 and I am wide awake. Today is the day I am going to Berlin with Emeli and Aisha, the ones I spent New Year’s Eve with in 2015. This holiday is bound to involve a lot of laughing and drinking and enjoying ourselves. And some sightseeing possibly. Kidding, of course some sightseeing. They haven’t been in Berlin, so with two previous experiences I am appointed tour guide.
Noel, the shy guy, tells me good morning and ask how I’m doing. I tell him I’m packing for a weekendtrip. Leave it to me to pack last-minute. I even need to do some last-minute shopping because who makes sure everything you own is either in the laundry or a monstrosity? This girl…
He laughs and asks me when I have time to have a coffee with him. “Can I get back to you on that after my weekend away?” I have zero idea about my schedule after Berlin. I know an assignment and it’s deadline are looming, but I don’t want to think about that just yet. He’s alright with that, thankfully.
My head is already in Berlin, and I’ve finally packed. I’m bringing a bottle of rum&coke for the train and don’t you try to tell me it’s to early for alcohol. In my world it never is. As the mom of the group I also bring some pb&j sandwiches and some snacks. Emeli & Aisha are waiting for me at the station and we’re all so excited! I run into Jackson, my all time favourite crush, when we’re heading for the train and he’s out of breath and has missed his train. I try not to laugh at him, but I fail.
We finally get to Berlin in the evening and find a way to the apartment we’re renting somehow. It’s really cute and bigger than we expected.
That is about the last thing you’ll hear anyone say about an Airbnb, am I right?
