I SAW THE MOVIE REY!!! IT WAS SO GOOD I WAS SCREECHING AND CACKLING THE ENTIRE TIME IT WAS SO GOOD

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA he is the dickish best boy and this movie heralds it. XYL i screeched and cackled too. o o o ohh you know, though i have so many things to talk about the movie (esp, the concept of morality, ethics, and laws blending in and giving rise to such aesthetic disasters) there was this particular thing that had me rolling on my bed

i don’t think you’d remember this but when zero’s tea time’s first issue came out, you psychoanalysed in the tags how rei grabbed the gear knob and said “if only I could forget about you, akai shuichi”. so i started keeping a list (don’t question my priorities people okayy?) of whenever rei does that:

01. the akai one in ztt you pointed out

02. “scotch wasn’t it” in detco manga

03. “japan is my lover/girlfriend” in the movie

and it is clear that he grabs something phallic-esque most of the time he is impassionate. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa xylia help me. 

tl;dr I OWE MY LIFE TO THIS MOVIE.

Scotch maybe ^^;; i lo ve  him but also maybe Asai Narumi, Jinpei Matsuda, or Akemi Miyano? They’re all precious babs ok ay

9) What is your favourite/most memorable case?

Moonlight Sonata/Mystery Train they both have fire I’m sure that’s part of it. Honestly these are the two that hit home with me the most emotionally/impactful memory wise? There are some cases that were scratched and seared into my tiny 12 year old brain when I started watching, but that was more out of the horror aspects I wasn’t used to death being a common occurrence in gory ways and here I am with a new favorite anime that revolves around it. 

Moonlight Sonata specifically because it’s one of the very few cases where Conan references back to and you can see how it affected him, mystery train because it was so freaking cool and then Conan kind of risked Kid’s life like a butt >:T He’s so smol and cute and then he does things like that with a call and an erased hypothetical unevenly balanced debt. So rude. Is the Scarlet arc a case? 

The most memorable 2 scenes, however, for me were Conan telling Hattori that detectives who corner criminals into commenting suicide are just as bad as criminals themselves and Conan entering and looking up at Amuro JUST to smile and be like ‘usotsuki’ warms and melts my heart for 8321947932847239847329847 years the scene will never leave my heart shit i’m rambling--

13) If you were to take the place of any one character, who would it be and why?

Ayumi because she is perfect and my sunshine. Wait, actually, I’m a mix of Hattori and Conan and Ayumi really sdkjfha ksdskdj  dj jdshauw rh kjds?? ?? 

I’d say Ayumi or Mitsuhiko because because reasons and wouldn’t end up accidentally solving a case wrong or getting someone important killed because I took the place of the other character ^^;; And because--but also also Sera.. .. . . .. ... look.. . look Xyl... .i don’t know....this question is hard..... .. . . i don’t have a proper answer for you.... afjk ahk

i have a lot of feelings about how rei knows that shuichi is 1) a better person than him and 2) thinks rei is a good person too

akai is a selfish bastard which in this case means that he wholeheartedly believes the man who wants to kill him can do the right thing, to the point it could have cost him his life. akai isn’t even being self-sacrificing or the better man here he just can’t imagine that rei would be incapable of working with him because forgiving someone with good intentions and working with them is what akai would do and he’s so self-centered he believes rei can do that too.

i also love how much rei respects shuichi's ability despite /everything/ like he hates him so much but movie 22 suggests that he thinks of shuu as scarier than him.

this is canon. bec i want it to be (and know it to be). i think this is what i like about them most. how they are absolutely perceptive of each other’s abilities (and thus, respect each other, bec it would be foolish to underestimate the other), but can be blind towards other things at the same time. slams my head thru a table. it’s like that tropey but classic cinematic blurring of background bec everything else doesn’t matter lmao.

anyways i'm 5000% ready to incorporate what i have learned into my fic.  my fic is my dissertation i'm going to get a phd in akam

cheers you! go xyl go. i am sure you will do your best and the output would be remarkable for us. my counterpart of dissertation is random ramblings because i lack such nuanced understanding for this pair (despite them being my otp), unlike you, neneko and a few of my other friends have. i just find them and their synergy aesthetically pleasing ;w; that’s why i love them and that’s sort of enough for me (at least at the moment :V)

fun fact: one of the qualities that tomino and co talk about in interviews regarding charmuro is that they ultimately come to blows in cca because they understand each other Too Well, but they can’t accept the other’s way of thinking

this is cool because i watched cca and they were 1. the best part and 2. gay and it’s neat to see a part of their dynamic unintentionally carry over into another series even though conan has much less to say about the Nature Of War and Humanity

i can’t tumblr so this is a reply to all your replies. anyway

1. movie 12 is really good

2. i like how 13 blends a “normal” case with BO-related stuffs much like a canon BO case, especially since most conan movies just smash two or more seemingly unrelated cases together without regard for pacing, and 13 is peppered with good moments like the most romantic heishin scene or cone’s nightmare. overall i think it’s earned its spot as one of the best conan films 

3. love how gosho and movie conan writers give ran karate instead of actual agency or plot relevance and most people seem to be okay with it lol
