Rumic World Week 2025 - Day 7 Happy birthday Rumiko Takahashi!

I was looking for a photo and found a throwback from when the first Ranma 1/2 anime was announced.

She is an absolute legend. Thank you Rumiko Takahashi for making all these wonderful stories that are beloved by so many people.

Day 5- Favorite relationship

Ryokari ( Ranma 1/2)

They have been my comfort ship and otp for a looong time! Whenever I see them together I get happy.

Bonus:

I know if the manga had continued longer and we got more moments with these two, Ranma looking on while eating crackers like his favorite romantic comedy show is on would have definitely been a running gag.

Ranma is so me in those moments

3. Fav antagonist

Shingo Kiryu (Mermaid's gaze, Mermaid saga)

The reason why this piece of shit is my fav antagonist is that he has zero redeeming points. No sad backstory whatsoever. No silly jokes. He is just a horrible person and his looks isn't going to save him. A villain through and through. He makes me want to sock him.

An A+ villain.

(Fun fact; Mermaid's gaze was the only story never to get animated due to being too violent. It was apparently worse than Mermaid's scar, with its piano vires and eye poking and all)

Day 7- free choice

Decided to draw Akari & Kagome clotheswapping because it's fun.

I am not so keen to call them *insert name*-clones, just because Rumiko draw them kinda similar in her style. But I vibe with the headcanon of them being somehow related to one another.

2. Favorite character

Akari Unryu

Listen! I will take any opportunity to talk about my favorite sumo pig trainer girl!

She has been my absolute favorite for almost 20 years(!) now and still sits on top of that throne.

Can't wait to see her when she arrives in the reboot! I am gonna die when she does.

It is finally time!!

1. Favorite work

I know that my main favorite work are Ranma 1/2, but I put it last year's Rumic world week, so I decided to make my second favorite work instead;

Mermaid saga

I think it's great,blending mystery with horror and tragedy with some moments of comedy, and the art styles is just my favorite of Rumiko!

Sadly it is kinda short but I guess I am glad that it at least has 4 volumes.

It really deserves some more love!

4. Favorite arc

I am simple but I adore the mini arc when everyone in the RARA are in the Hibiki house.

It gave me the majority of my fav Ryokari moments and the end panel are just so sweet.

Honorable mention are Mermaid's promise from Mermaid saga.
