James had finished his duty, negotiating terms of peace and an agreement that would allow the vampires to stay in their lands. It wasn’t his favorite job, but as a lord and one of the elders of the coven, it was a necessary performance. Especially when Anthony couldn’t be bothered to do so.
He entered their home, removing the protective clothing that protected his sensitive skin from sunlight and deposited these on a nearby armchair. Nothing had seemed amiss, at least he couldn’t scent anything different. Not until he entered their bedroom and saw the human woman sitting with Anthony.
“I thought it was my turn to bring home dinner. Or is she another one of your pets?” James sighed. “You know they don’t last.”
