Mayhem & Ruckus
“Threats To Shoot Lead To Arrest,” Montreal Gazette. September 17, 1931. Page 7. ---- Farmer at Repentigny Seeks Police Protection for His Household --- Charged with uttering threats and damaging property, Horace Lefebvre, of Repentigny, Que., appeared yesterday. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and enquete was set for September 22. Due to the fact that, according to the police, Lefebvre has already served 12 years in the St. Vincent de Paul Penitentiary, bail was refused him.
Lefebvre was arrested on Tuesday night at Repentigny by the provincial police after he had eluded them for some time. He was found hiding behind a chimney of a hunting lodge where, the police say, he had gone to get a rifle claiming that he was going to ‘shoot up’ the family of J. Gratton of Repentigny, where he was staying. Because of the threats against his family, the police say, Gratton notified Deputy Chief Decale, of the provincial police, asking fro protection.
Detective Guyon and Constable Delisle were sent to the scene on Tuesday night. They learned that Lefebrve had asked Gratton for some liquor and after having been refused, ran amuck in the house. He smashed several windows, crockery, and furniture. Running out of the house, the police say, Lefebvre seized an axe and broke all the glass in Gratton’s automobile. He was then entering the house when he was overpowered and the axe taken away. Gratton told the police that Lefebvre then went away saying that he was going to get a gun.
The provincial police were notified and found Lefebvre hiding behind a chimney and he was barefooted. After an hour’s wait, Lefebvre surrendered and was brought to Montreal.
Good morning!
I have completed my mud run and am having my recovery beer before I head home to prep for an actual ball tonight. Typical Saturday, you know.
This would be the lyrics to the song My Girl if the BBC had it's way
The British Broadcasting Corporation censored a completely innocuous word in a recent documentary, just in case people would find it offensive.
The word: “girl.”
In a documentary ahead of the Commonwealth Games, which will take place in Glasgow, Scotland in July, host Mark Beaumont interviewed 19 year-old judo champion Cynthia Rahming and her family.
Rahming and Beaumont grappled, with the fighter taking the 31 year-old host to the mat.
“I am not sure I can live that down — being beaten by a 19-year-old girl,” he said in the documentary.
The episode originally aired in April, but in a re-run, the BBC removed the line containing the apparently offensive description of a young female.

Lyrics BBC style : )
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day. When it's cold outside I've got the month of May. I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My (my , my ) Talkin' 'bout my (my ). I've got so much honey the bees envy me. I've got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees. Well, I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My (my , my ) Talkin' 'bout my (my ). Hey hey hey Hey hey hey Ooooh. I don't need no money, fortune or fame. I've got all the riches, baby, one man can claim. Well, I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? Recap: Run Amuck 2013
"Hey, I just tripped you and I'm so sorry. Where'd my shoe go? Call me muddy..."
In between the downpour of Tropical Storm Andrea and the additional mud contributions from MCM event staff and the local Marine population, the hills of Marine Corps Base Quantico were well-primed for yesterday's Run Amuck. As put out by race staff, the course was not designed for speed and they would rather we completed the event safely rather than quickly.
With that in mind, I took my time slogging through the muck, over the hills and through the woods and all 21 obstacles. My knees look a wreck from the rocks in the low crawl obstacles and I'm still picking clay out from under my fingernails. I'm fairly sure that I got mud in places where mud shouldn't go, including in between my teeth... but I went there to get dirty, and I got dirty.
The great thing about it, though, was that I was able to prove to myself that I was capable of doing something like this. Time after time I saw displays of camaraderie and teamwork among complete strangers as those who were physically stronger helped those less able in order to navigate through the mud patches and to climb up the more slippery hills. There were fun moments too, like when I took a tumble down the berm after negotiating the first mud pit and fell with a loud squelch. I stood up and found myself in a pitched mud battle with one of the other runners which carried on for a few minutes before we made our way up the next hill.
The options for cleaning off afterward fell between a local fire truck and the base auto care center with four hoses of freezing cold water to clean the worst of the gunk off of ourselves. So yes, I got an auto-wash. Feel free to make your Fifth Element jokes here.
It's worth noting that over 3,000 runners took part in this event, and around 600 of those were active-duty military. Pre-event entertainment and performance of the national anthem for morning colors was provided by the Marine Corps Band.
A big thanks goes to the MCM event staff and volunteers for making this fun and challenging. Also, my gratitude to the Marines who were voluntold to monitor the course and kept us going with encouragement, the occasional bit of scolding, and high-fives even to the muddiest of us.
I got my confirmation email for Run Amuck today! This will be the second event in the MCM Series that I'll be taking part in this year and of all of them it's the one that I'm looking forward to the most.
3.5 miles of obstacles, trails, mud, and - of course - Marines, on June 8th at Quantico. I'll be running as part of the second heat, starting at 9:20am, and I expect to get good and filthy during this run. If there are any good pictures from this I will of course share them.
I registered for Run Amuck today! 3.5 miles of trails, obstacles, mud, and Marines down at Quantico at the start of June... Now I've got to find a good pair of trail running shoes and get ready to get dirty. This one sounds challenging but also like a lot of fun.

I am so uncomfortable with these people around me. They are so fucking annoying, but they're the same people I'm around all day, every day. So what is different?
That's how I know something is off center within me. But sometimes I just want to run amuck and experience some excitement. I can’t leave my place of work for another seven hours. Let the planning begin! What can I do here to create some excitement? My boss is out of the office today. Hmmhmmmm…
