So yesterday I didn't make it to both group runs, and that's probably the best thing. I set my alarm but forgot that it's set to only go off on weekdays (iHome's a little too intelligent for its own good). There was a small group at SJR in Oakland and two men from Lake Merritt Joggers & Striders came in to set the pace and sweep the turtles (me) in the back.
The run was tough but it left me feeling more motivated to become a better runner. I want to get to a 5k without having to stop and walk. The route was a gorgeous one, we ran through some of the super fancy homes in the Berkeley/Oakland area. I might run it again in the near future. Oh... I'm still on the fence about whether or not I'll sign up for the See Jane Run half marathon or the 5k. It would be nice to get in a half before I do NWM again next fall, but SJR is in June in Alameda. The temperature is going to be really warm and I haven't done too many runs in the heat. Maybe twice in San Jose this past summer and it was nearly intolerable! I just have to decide before the price goes up :)
After the group run we came back to the store and had chocolate, bagels (w/ cream cheese lol), fruit, and champagne! We also got a retro shirt. I chose this shirt b/c it was cute. I'll probably never be interested in doing a triathalon, but at least I've got a great looking shirt. I'm nursing some pretty awful shin splints today, in fact I'm hoping they aren't stress fractures.
