I am a self taught baker. I am far from being an expert in this ancient tradition of kitchen alchemy. Like previous apprentices, there were mistakes made while learning the craft. For example, take this birthday/Easter cake I baked. At a distance the cake looks passable, but if you look 👀 closer, you can see that the cake is sweating, the fondant Easter eggs are bumpy and my pipping sloppy. Despite, the struggles and the self doubt, I am going to continue to bake, learn and pray to the pastry gods for guidance. I will be a great baker, who knows, maybe even earn a spot on the Next great American baker contest show. Until then, anyone need a cake?
