I has been over a year since I injured the upper part of my hamstring. At first I believed it was a hamstring strain due to the weakness while doing manual muscle test on it. But with further research that I have look up, I have realized it may be a problem with the ischial bursa or a hamstring tendonitis. After resting for a complete month from any running workout, my pain and symptoms have subsided a bit. What really sucks is that after running 4 miles again, the pain came back. Except it was really mild. I'm afraid if I start to workout rigorously again, it is a problem that will stay with me forever. As said by some studies. I just wish I was pain free again.
