I’ve been a bad runner. Since starting my new job (the day after the Chicago Marathon), I have been running once a week. Maybe. But it is so cold! And dark. And slippery. Did I mention -33C?!? True story: a lady was found frozen to death 150 m from her front door yesterday.
And now I’m perpetually cranky because I’m not getting enough endorphins in my diet. Oh, and there are 4 weeks to go until I run the Rock n Roll Half Marathon in New Orleans. Ack!
But, all is not lost, I have the following reasons to believe the worst of my bad behaviour is over:
-I got lots of cool new running gear for Christmas (including ridiculously expensive lululemon from the hubby) and new outfits can make even the laziest girl get out there
-I’m keeping a “run kit” at the office, and I’ve pre-mapped routes in in downtown Toronto, so if this god-awful weather lets up for a second, I'm good to go. I already changed into my runner girl costume in the middle of the day and garnered several double takes when I emerged from my office.
-It’s really not that bad once you get moving. Right?
-this weekend the forecast calls for a balmy -4C! Bring on the long run!
