do you have any tips onto developing fanclans?

Every fanclan is a bit different. My best opinion is center around a theme for the clan.

An example could be Runningclan. Their main theme is Family. You want to start with broad themes before picking more specific ones. Picking a narrow theme can limit what will fit into the clan and its history, characters, and plot(if you want a plot).

From there, you can pick places, cat names, and colors that will help center the theme. Runningclan deals with family dynamics, neglect vs enabling, and emotional distance.

This is clans in general, but cats from the clan you make should resonate with your theme, in backstory, personality, and/or colors+designs

Mintfeather won the 100th DECIW poll!

Mintwhisker, formerly the loner Mint, traveled between group after group of alley cats and rogues. He’s a lazy and silver-tongued tomkitty, but once he’s overstayed his welcome with his cowardice in fights and exploiting the others for food and shelter he’s run out of the territory with major hostility. On one of his travels between groups, he met the Runningclan cat Furzefeather, and they fell into a honeymoon romance that ended in kits.

Runningclan doesn’t allow their cats to have relationships with outsiders. The clan has a rule of “not the kit’s fault” and usually wait until the kits can eat solid prey before kicking the code-breaking parent out. If the other parent was a loner, the clan cat could persuade them to fight a clan cat and win. If the parent was a kittypet, well… there’s no saving them. Furzefeather told Mint about the Feral Cat rule of her clan. Mint thought it was a good idea, another group to do his job for him. He won the fight against the Runningclan cat Rootcloud with help from Furzefeather, who tripped Rootcloud with her tail discreetly. Mint was allowed into the clan and was given the Warrior name Mintwhisker. He lazed around for a bit before the other cats started getting irritated. That’s when Mintwhisker created the idea of a mediator, and managed to convince the leader, Flickerstar (who’s old af) that it really was a necessary role for the clan. Flickerstar announced the new role at the next gathering and it soon became an actual job in every clan, and surprisingly it helped deter many unnecessary battles

As for his family, he and Furzefeather emotionally broke it off after a while, having no feelings left for the other. Mintwhisker barely spoke to his kits (Twigtalon and Weedlight) as well. He never wanted them. You can find Mintwhisker either lounging in sunbeams or being annoyed with problems he chose to solve.

what's the Nopile AU?

The Nopile Au is an altered timeline of the original warriors series. In this au, Jay’s Wing votes not to leave the lake territory and puts his stone in the No Pile.

This traps Jayfeather in the past, and destroys his original timeline. No firestar, no bloodclan, no tribe of rushing water. He lives his life as Jay’s Wing, has kits with Half Moon, and dies as he listens to the first clans starting to form.

The tribe splits into five clans: Bubblingclan, Runningclan, Doeclan, Treeclan, and Quietclan.

The first and oldest clans to emerge were Treeclan and Runningclan, after an argument of encroaching twolegs and their kittypets. The tribe splits between “peace with outsiders” and “only the tribe cats are good”.

From there, Runningclan splits off from Treeclan, Doeclan splits off Runningclan, and Bubblingclan splits from Doeclan

In present day, there is Whorlpaw of treeclan, Vixenpaw of Bubblingclan, and Twigtalon of Runningclan, my tritagonists. Vixenpaw is a warrior’s apprentice, and a descendant of Jay’s Wing. Whorlpaw is a Medicine apprentice, learning more than just medicine skills. Twigtalon is a newly made warrior, along with her sister Weedlight

Theres a lot more, but I want to keep it until the first three chapters of Book 1: Cold Winds is out on Wattpad and AO3. I’ll make sure to let ya know when I make them public!

Meet Runningclan! One of the 5 clans of the np!au, and the resident clan for Twigtalon! This is the family tree.

My tritagonist, Twigtalon’s, family! She has a sister, Weedlight, who isn’t very nice, and twigtalon’s family relationships are a bit strained. Her mother, Furzefeather, and father, Mintwhisker, aren’t very close. In fact, they basically stay on opposite sides of the camp when they can. They haven’t officially announced their break up, but other cats can assume.

Mintwhisker used to be a wandering loner, but joined the clan after meeting Furzefeather. Runningclan has a long tradition of accepting loners if they prove to be capable of winning a battle against a clan cat. The leader will pick a clan cat for the loner to fight, and if the loner wins, they are accepted. If not, though…. That loner is chased off the territory.
