Today was workout day (also known as Hell day) and I was scheduled for 3x1 mile repeats, which is the most I ever did. I was able to accomplish 3 miles with 1:45 rest at 5:18, 5:19, and 5:15. Then I took off for a 1000 while a few of my teammates did one and was able to finish on the final thousand at 2:35 through the half. 15 minute cooldown and then I was done. Probably my best summer workout ever and I really think there's going to be some big things coming from this xc season.

Had a forty minute pool run in the morning today, 20 of which I did without the belt. I came home, did core and stuff, read, and waited for practice. For practice we had a 35 minute run and some easy shakeups, so it was not a tough day on paper. However, I was a little bit exhausted from yesterday’s run and 3 straight days of pool running, but I still made it. Average pace: 7:19, but was probably faster since we were in a heavily wooded area. Workout tomorrow, wish me luck

Coach sprung a 30 pool run on me this morning out of nowhere, so that happened. I farted around all day until practice at 5:30, and I knew I was in for a rough one (heat index was about 96 degrees). To my surprise, my teammates and I were able to hang on pretty well and I felt strong. 6:45 average pace for 40 minutes, and 20 minutes of diagonals afterwards. Coach said this is the first time he's had 7 runners do 20 minutes of diagonals after a sustained run. I watched a little bit of macfarland and I'm feeling inspired. We're ready to shock the state

Today was my first day back from vacation in Virginia and it was time to hop back on the grind again. 10:30 AM I had pool run with my friend Gabby, and I was able to go the whole 40 minutes without the flotation belt. regular practice called for plyos and a 30 minute run after, and we did exactly that. It was nice to get to see (some of) the boys again but some not so nice. A few of our runners got their phones stolen today, but tbh one deserved it (karma is a bitch ain't it). Tomorrow should be a little bit harder and I gotta start on my final English 4 AP summer essay too 😅

Today's lesson: don't underestimate hills. I was very excited to be in a new running environment at shanendoah crossings for a few days with beautiful trails and steep hill training, and I was naive enough to think that I would actually have fun running them. Let me tell you: though I did have a great time feeling free and exploring however I pleased, those hills are damn tough. I was not able to complete my long run like I wanted to, but I did get a solid run it (even though I had to stop a few times to catch my breath). It brought back bad memories of camp, but at least this time I had nobody to embarrass myself in front of. STATS: 36:30 min of straight running, extreme hills.

Visited Virginia Tech today so we were on the road for the majority of the day and I had to settle for a treadmill run. It was a tough day and I found out that running really is something I fall back on. While running on the treadmill I was happy and able to forget my qualms about earlier in the day. Also the treadmill was really cool and I could choose my course and run with other people so that was fun too. 10 minute warmup, 35 minute run, 1 mile cooldown with extreme incline. Feeling really good about the season, but ready to get back home
