Back on the horse
So, yea.....last week wasn't a good week!
No real good excuses come to mind, I just wasn't feeling it. I don't know why. I guess I needed a break. I think I did one 5k run, and then walked the steps of the Cathedral of Learning with Jen. That was intense! We walked up twice (72 flights) and down once (36 flights). My legs were like jello! Probably will try to do that at least once a week...such a good work out. I didn't get any other runs in, but I was determined to at least try to get a long run in today....and outside at that! Today was the EQT 10 miler as well, I was too afraid to sign up though. Next year for sure!
We had a showing today at 9:45, so had to vacate the house fairly early. Seriously, who schedules this crap on a Sunday?!?! Decided to head down to the in-laws early and went to Brady's Run. It is a nice little track! Basically flat, but scenic...the only problem were it was a little crowded with dogs, roller bladers, and little kids on bikes. I spent a lot of time swerving to get around people. I was also having trouble with my apps. I downloaded a new interval timer, thought I had it perfect. I was wrong...fought with it for at least 2o minutes. I hate technology at times!
It was a good run! I was pleased with myself, esp since I haven't been outside in awhile. I also used Galloway technique for the first time by myself. It really does help with the pacing, esp outside. I did a 1:1 ratio today to see how that would work.
Day 10: 4 miles, easy run....I went 5.5 miles
Location: Brady's Run
Time: 1:07:54
Pace: 12:21
Calories Burned: 911
Galloway ratio: 1:1
Gear: Brooks Adrenaline, Nike tights, Nike Tempo shorts, Nike long sleeve, North Face hoodie, Tune Belt arm band, Apple earbuds,
Playlist: Run It, revamped!
App: Map My Run
Overall Feeling: Good!
Aches/Pains: No pain during....it was really cold so now my sinuses are angry!
Accomplishments: Decreased my pace for an outside run by almost 1 minute, which is encouraging....managed some negative splits too....my last mile wasn't good, I was just trying to get to 5.5.
Improvement: Best 5+ mile pace so far
Goal: Get to that 11 minute mile, run outside!
Up Next: Back on my usual schedule, I hope. I signed up for some more races today too: Dec 7- Trot for Tots 10k and Jan 18- Frostbite 5k. There are some other ones that may catch my fancy too, but we will see. I also signed up for Steel City Road Runners and their official Galloway training group. That starts Jan 24th. Excited!
Weekly Mile Total: 8.6 miles
Total Training Miles: 48.61 miles
