Behind the Runway: My Experience Volunteering at New York Fashion Week with Runway 7
This fall, I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at New York Fashion Week 2025 with Runway 7, one of the most dynamic platforms for emerging and established designers. Being part of this event gave me a firsthand look at the fast-paced, creative, and detail-oriented world behind the runway. From the moment I stepped backstage, I could feel the excitement and energy in the air. I worked closely with designers and models helping with quick outfit changes, ensuring each look was perfectly styled, and keeping the backstage flow organized and on schedule. It was amazing to see how much teamwork and coordination go into every second of a fashion show. I also assisted with VIP guest relations, working alongside the event planning team led by Daniela Valeria Caballon Castillo. Our goal was to make sure that each guest’s experience was seamless and memorable from check-in to their front-row seats. It taught me how much thought and precision goes into hospitality and brand presentation at major industry events. In addition to my backstage and event duties, I contributed to the marketing team under Natalia Ramirez, where I helped capture and create digital content to showcase the energy of the shows. Documenting the atmosphere the rush of models, the sparkle of lights, and the reactions of the audience reminded me how storytelling extends beyond the runway itself. Through this experience, I gained a deeper appreciation for every role that brings a fashion show to life. It’s not just about the clothes it’s about the people, the creativity, and the collaboration that transform ideas into unforgettable moments. Volunteering at New York Fashion Week with Runway 7 truly fueled my passion for fashion production, marketing, and event coordination. I’m so grateful to Runway 7 for allowing me to be part of such a dynamic and inspiring environment. This experience reminded me why I love this industry and inspired me to continue pursuing opportunities that merge creativity, storytelling, and community.
