Alvery C. Bartholomew is selfish, gullible, self‑obsessed, condescending, cowardly, and desperate for praise. His combat skills are poor—he can barely wield a sword and refuses to use a gun—making him only useful as a surgeon/medic. Raised spoiled by his upper‑middle‑class mother, his father viewed him as a disgrace and sent him to the military hoping he’d mature—or never return. Unpopular among high society, no one attended his birthdays or befriended him—until he met Velmourn Barrett, his first “friend,” unaware Vel was manipulating, gaslighting, and emotionally abusing him.

Bellamy Gray is a British bugler and secret witch. As a toddler, his parents made a deal with the devil to save him from a fatal illness — the price: the devil, whom Bellamy calls Del, now shares his body. Bellamy is quiet, carefree, bitter, and aloof; Del is selfish, obnoxious, cruel, and mischievous. They struck a truce: Bellamy takes control on odd days, Del on even days — leaving gaps in each other’s memories, so they keep a shared journal to keep track of everything.

Their mother died giving birth to Rowan; their father ran a shoe shop. Skilled at pickpocketing, working as freak performers and helping make/sell shoes to survive, they were left alone when their father died of heart disease. Rupert joined the army to pay off debts but refused to leave Rowan behind — so he brought his younger brother along, much to Rowan’s joy.

Elwyn “Emilia” Kavinsky grew up loved on a farm. She had superhuman strength, was compassionate, honest, disciplined, and kind to animals — and unusually could grow facial hair, which her family told her to shave. Her father, an aspiring inventor with a limp, was mocked for his odd creations; Emilia always defended him. When soldiers tried to recruit her unfit father, she stole his enlistment papers, cut her hair, let her facial hair grow, and ran away disguised as a man to take his place. She trained hard, learned fast, and became a sapper — her years chopping wood on the farm proving invaluable.

How they met each other? Was captured by a undead pirates and lock them up in a cell with other captured men either British, France, or Prussia. They're in a giant cursed pirate ship filled with cursed drowned corpse pirates. They need to fight and team up and defeat the pirates captain, and then they grab the boat just to escape the cursed island.
