Originally thought to be a queen, Tony’s egg was preserved within one of the egg-harbouring facilities and isolated until hatching, where the supervisors realized their initial assumption about him was incorrect—he did not have enough male DNA to be a drone, nor did he have enough female DNA to be a queen. Intersexism had only been seen a handful of times before within the egg-handling facilities, but this time there were two offered options going forward: execution, or testing to see if he had anything intellectually to offer for the farms.

Around the age of 13 (human years), he was assigned to testing to have his mental and physical skills evaluated, and showed a significant understanding for mathematics and logic. He was trained in the highest of mathematics for five or so years until he landed his first job as the interning accountant for Rupture Farms, where he stayed until it was burned down.

Oddworld: The Promised Neverland homage (pt.1)

‘Kay, so I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole that is Oddworld lore…and I was *already* a big fan of the whole concept thanks to “The Promised Neverland.”

Surely this has been done before, but I couldn’t help paying some homages to the series—especially because it fits so damn well for obvious reasons!

And honestly…this is the most fun that I’ve had with my art for a long, long time. It’s like I remembered what I love about creating, and even *how* to do it. I remember loving symbolism and the significance of imagery…like here? I loved having the plates act as a kind of sick, ironic commodity: like the Glukkons absolutely would sell off “authentic” style dish wares with which to serve their workforce up on.

And even though I’ve only been able to play both the New n’ Tasty re-release and Soulstorm, I had a lot of fun trying to kind of reconcile the designs some for Abe and Alf? Alf especially; I liked the idea of him wearing his overalls down 90’s-ish style because it kind of acts reminiscent of his old loincloth, but still keeps him as visually distinct as Abe or Toby.

Everyone feels bad when you tell them you were ‘rescued’ from Rupture Farms, but I had it pretty good. I made a dependable income, I was well-liked amongst my employers, I owned my own residency;

All of that was ripped away from me when this Abe character started playing saviour amongst the farms.

Now, don’t get me wrong — Of COURSE I don’t want my brothers (or, whatever we are to each other) to suffer life-threatening labour! But did he really have to be so obnoxious going about it? Hell, could have at least saved me my job. Or at least, he didn’t have to kill my boss.

Am I grateful? To a degree. But compared to the rest of these shmucks, I didn’t need saving. My life was perfect as it was.

I know he has good intentions. He’s saved hundreds of Mudokon’s lives; young, old, even saving those of which bullied and teased him for not fitting in like the rest of his peers. I’m sure there are people out there far more ecstatic about this Odd-born messiah. I just think he’s clumsy, and someone else should have been appointed to take on this ginormous task. Someone more confident, bold; because sensitive characters like Abraham Lure will be eaten alive in this world.

I knew about the brew before the Glukkons started serving it. Yes, in hindsight, I regret not whistleblowing when I had the chance. Why didn’t I? I was paid to keep my silence, though my employers succeeded in disguising their hush money as ‘bonuses’.

Plus, they phrased the outline for the brew to be far less impactful than it ended up being.
