Has anyone else who picked up the Grand Hotel/Carousel Rondo Blu-Ray noticed how poor the video quality is or is it just my copy? I can’t tell if I got a defective disc or if Hankyu screwed up the release. When you look at the blacks in the background, they’re all boxy and pixelated. The revue also looks really washed out and the blacks aren’t as crisp as they should be.

These screencaps are straight from the OFFICIAL release Blu-ray itself and NOT a downloaded bootleg. If you blow the pictures up full size (ESPECIALLY the ones from the revue), you can see better what I mean about the poor video quality. It honestly looks like an illegal downloaded version and it’s driving me crazy when I actually shelled out for the official release.

Has anyone else had a similar or different experience with their Grand Hotel/Carousel Rondo Blu-ray? I’m trying to figure out if mine is defective and I need to send it back and get a new copy or if this is just the way it is and I have to live with that awful video quality.

Amusing Zuka RetJ discovery

So I was watching the Verona scene on my Tsukigumi RetJ DVD on Star Angle, as Mirio fans do, and caught something I’ve never noticed before. During one chorus, Mercutio walks across the screen and passes behind Tybalt. He’s only there for a couple seconds and Tybalt blocks him for one of those seconds. But he’s looking at Tybalt as he goes by and flipping him off. I’m not talking some archaic but still-understood rude gesture, I mean Rurikacutio literally giving Mirobalt the middle finger. But because of where he is and the direction Tybalt is facing, Tybalt doesn’t even see it. Which is probably a good thing for Mercutio. XD
