What is your favorite competitive pokemon tidbit

in no particular order:

everything about Gen 1 Jank (Toxic increasing the damage of Leech Seed, crit rate being calculated off Speed, boosting moves reapplying stat drops from status, Body Slam not paralyzing normal types) but if i had to pick one it would be the Chansey set that keeps her at level 85 so three Seismic Tosses consistently activate the glitch where you can't use a recovery move if you're missing exactly a multiple of 255 hp

Explosion's entire existence, especially the fact that it's really good. it's just such an inherently funny move. facing a minor setback? just fucking blow up on it. special shoutout to Choice Band Metagross lead sets that blow up on turn 1

the fact that Ting-Lu could/can viably run Fissure in VCG because of Stomping Tantrum

you can Counter Hidden Power in gen 3 even if it's a special attacking type because Counter sees it starting as a Normal type move first

gen 3 Beat Up, on cartridge, reveals the names of all the pokemon in your party, which meant it was optimal to nickname all your mons if you were running Beat Up (so as not to reveal info), which in turn meant it was optimal to ALWAYS nickname all your mons whether you were running Beat Up or not to avoid telegraphing THAT info to the opponent. eventually Pokemon Showdown made Beat Up just not reveal names

Little Cup damage calcs breaking in half because the math was not optimized to account for level 5 mons using moves with like 200 effective base power

RUSE

Used some new brushes to do a second take on on my designs for the Lonely Ones protagonists; Feast and Mim are pretty much the same but Ruse is black now based on fandom interpretation and Doctor Raven (the person who designed them)'s comments. (Plus I think my old design for her was kinda bland + generic for being long-haired white girl #46).

(Ignore the fact that Ruse is basically just a genderbent version of low now).
