“Oh like you don’t know, Officer. I’ve seen the file you folks keep on me. It’s a mile long and three miles wide. Yet, not a single conviction since I was seventeen and stupid, and even then I didn’t serve full time. Funny. If you’re having trouble getting things to stick, I hear crazy glue does wonders.”
“Yes, yes, fine. Nicholas Novak, at your service.”
How long have you lived in Diamond City?:
“I don’t live in Diamond City. I live in the moment.”
“Ugh. Relax. Moved into the city proper about five years ago. Is that not already in my file?”
Setting The Scene
Why were you at the gala (If you were at the gala at all)?:
I wasn’t. I was otherwise occupied. Don’t know who is gonna pay me for that job though, now that Raúl is dead. Pity.
“I had to stay home and take care of the kids.”
What you were doing prior to the time of the murder? (11:52pm):
“Helping an old lady cross the street.”
Location at the time of the murder? (11:52pm):
Crouched with a sniper rifle on a roof on the corner of sixteenth, about to commit a different murder.
“France.”
Anyone who could corroborate your story?:
“The lord?”
How did you know the victim (Did you know them at all)?:
He’s my employer. I liked him. He understood the world in a way few people do.
“He was my cousin twice removed on my mom’s side.”
Were you aware of the allegations against the victim?:
“Wasn’t everyone? Like for years? Unless you guys weren't. Oof, this is awkward. I’ve gone and made it awkward.”
Did you notice anything or anyone suspicious at the Gala?:
“Like I said, I wasn’t there. But if there was no one suspicious at a gala where someone was murdered, I’ll eat your badge.”
Anything else that the police should know?:
“Nice try but it’s your job to figure that out and I’m not on police payroll. But I could be! I’ll have my people get in touch with your people and see if we can work something out.”
“No, I won’t take this more seriously. Can I go? Are we done wasting each others time?”
Where truly was your character during the Gala? Ridley spent the entire night being dragged around by the company director while they talked to rich middle aged white men who fund the theatre and the company, also trying to add more names to that roster from the other guests at the gala. When Ridley broke her heel and had to leave temporarily to switch to some spares from the directors car it was the only break she’d had all night.
Is your character the murderer? No she isn’t, though what he did to her family was despicable (and part of her does believe he’s got his comeuppance) she is also grateful for what he did, though that she isn’t quite as vocal about that. In hindsight she was miserable growing up with all her parents caring about being their seemingly endless amounts of money and how they could show their daughter off, without the money Ridley was able to carve out her own life and career. It built her into a hard-working and just all round better person, she’d be more likely to thank Raúl than kill him.
If your character was the murderer, how would they have covered their tracks? N/A
where was your character during the murder? patrick volunteered under raul’s direction to gather dna from glasses, plates, and trash from the event’s patrons. he arrived before 8:00pm to get ready and was in the venue when raul gave his speech. from that point on until around 9:30pm, he was busy transferring dishes and garbage back to the kitchen. after that time he left his station, where he returned to the kitchen around 10:45pm to the ballroom. after that, patrick left.
is your character the murderer? patrick could have been the murderer. he could have been at any of the five locations the murder took place. his mens rea was that raul had manipulated him to take this farther than he’d ever had expected, putting his life in danger. by killing raul, he could claim these discoveries for himself while also stopping raul’s plans to create a new mutant serum that could give him different powers. in doing so, he would have stopped raul from overtaking the city as a potential villain. during one of his breaks, he could have argued with raul in the women’s restroom about the future of their work.
how did your character cover their tracks? the location that patrick could have murdered raul was on the 15th floor outside Suite 1532. having brought the food cart up to the 15th floor, patrick could have lured raul there and murdered him, them transported his body. with the electricity shortage, the security cameras would have not operated. from the 15th floor, patrick could have possessed another mutant to carry the body up to the office via the stairwell, leaving a different set of dna onto the first suspected murder scene. because of his slippery he could have been with his powers, he would not easily be suspected during any of the investigation process. of course, this is all speculation...
Paloma was in all of the shady corners of the gala building. Partially hiding from paparazzi and partially snooping.
Is your character the murderer? If so, why did they murder Raúl Suarez?
Paloma is not the murderer. However, it’s entirely possible that she was some sort of accomplice. If someone had somehow contacted her that they needed distractions or help in order to kill Raúl, she absolutely would have supported them, regardless of whether or not they revealed themselves to her. The strange rumbling noise could very well have been Paloma literally shaking building supports to misdirect. Because Paloma recognized Raúl’s name from her time in the testing facility and had very little other information, she has always suspected him of being the one who blacklisted her and ran the facilities. That, to Paloma, is more than enough reason that this man should die.
If your character was the murderer, how would they have covered their tracks?
Nick was killing someone else the night of the gala. (A district judge, with a sniper rifle, if you’re curious). It’s the world’s worst alibi. He’s guilty of murder, just not this one.
Is your character the murderer? If so, why did they murder Raúl Suarez?
Nick would not have killed Raúl. Raúl, in Nick’s eyes, was his rescuer who saved him from prison and molded him into who he is today. They didn’t have any sort of deep personal connection, but Raúl paid him well, was always very clear with his assignments, and continued to keep Nick out of the hands of the law. Nick absolutely could have been able to kill Raúl- he has the means to kill anyone he wants. He just didn’t have the motive.
If your character was the murderer, how would they have covered their tracks?
There’s no response, a surprised look lingers on his face. He didn’t think they’d see him.
How long have you lived in Diamond City:
Again, no response. He looks as if he’s readying himself to run.

What you were doing prior to the time of the murder? (11:52pm):
“Avoiding the paparazzi. Mostly this guy named Mark Gorsech. He’s a very persistent dickwad who basically stalked me when I was seventeen and sold pics of me in bikinis to gossip mags. Where were you on the evening of May 26th, the day after the Gala?
“The gym. I tend to go at night. Fewer people. ”
Is there anyone who could confirm that?
“There were like two other people there but I don’t know their names.”
What do you know about any of these people? (Herby, Dorian, Sanne, Mateo, Clarice)
“I’m not a snitch.”
Did you see any of these people at the Gala?
“No.”
Can you think of any reason they would lie in their testimony?
“Who would ever lie to the police?”
What evidence do you have to back up your own statement?
“I’m starting to get some good muscle definition in my abs.”
Would you like to clarify anything you know or remember about the night of the Gala?
