30 facts about Charlie Carnegie

1. he was born in london. he was born in 1858 and stayed in the same city until his "death" twenty years later. 2. he was born into a family of hunters and scientists. his parents were part of a society that believed in creatures and studied them. well, that's the textbook answer. in reality they would hunt down creatures and dissect them apart. 3. his parents were obsessed with vampires. and obsessed is almost too light of a word. earl and mrs. carengie feared and loathed them but also wanted to research every part of them. 4. he was experimented on. though charlie was the prodigal son, the one to head of household at his father's death, he was also used as a guinea pig in his parents' experiments. a lot of them were solo, but he was also tested against the vampires they had caught and was forcibly used for feedings. his parents were fascinated with the process of becoming a vampire. 5. he was forcibly changed into a vampire. his parents later told him they never meant to make him one, but charlie never believed that for one second. it was an "accident". there was a group of vampires that were tired of their mates being captured by the carnegie's society so they did an act of revenge by killing a bunch of the society's children. in charlie's case, he was changed because it was something worst than death to the carnegie's. 6. he had a "surrogate" sire. roman wasn't a godsend by any means, but he took charlie under his wing anyway. 7. he left london for ten years before returning. he went traveling with roman, a spiritual journey to find out who he was. and also to learn how to be around other people without wanting to rip their throats out. he wasn't just hungry, but also very angry at the world for awhile. 8. his sister is a timekeeper. this is something he didn't know until he was a vampire and returned to london after ten years and found his sister frozen in age. no one knew but her and their parents, either. 9. he stayed in england for a couple of decades after turning. england was comforting. england was also away from his parents, who moved to the states once he and his sister turned their backs on them and destroyed all their research. 10. his parents died of old age in upper new york. he attended the funeral. 11. he's both a nurturer and a fighter. he likes to care for hurt creatures, but he's the type to go down swinging. 12. when he's in protective mode, he gets tunnel vision. he can be a real asshole sometimes, usually when he's trying to fight for what he believes in. he'll stab someone in the back if it means furthering his own agenda. 13. usually he's a very goofy, lovable type of person. most of the time he's rather charming and inviting; he loves to pull people in, chat, be on good terms. 14. he's bitter that he's forever stuck in a young body. he was changed at age twenty, which wasn't a big deal when he was living in the seventeenth century but it is now. he isn't a fan of being looked down upon, especially how more modern creatures seem to scoff at him being a doctor and looking so young. 15. he's got a thing for knives. some like guns, he likes the up close and personal vibe that knives give off. he's always been better at hand to hand combat than anything else. 16. after faking documents, he got a medical degree almost a century ago. it was his dream to be a doctor when he was still alive, and after moping for a few decades he finally decided to shut up and do it. 17. he's an underground doctor for hurt creatures. he sometimes treats humans too, but mainly he's mainly reached by word of mouth (though he's been staying local much more recently). 18. he's a member of the resistance. he got tired of seeing stupid deaths done by hunters and other humans. he's still a bit bitter towards his parents for what they did to him and though education may be key, he also isn't going to sit around and be wiped out while others try and change stubborn minds. 19. he likes when people underestimate him. it gives him a chance to prove them wrong, and charlie takes great joy in that. 20. he still keeps on good terms with his "surrogate" sire. roman lives in new york city as well, and they see each other often (its usually on charlie's insistence but charlie will take what he can get). 21. he's very accommodating. he takes other vampires under his wings, just like roman did to him, and always seems to have people staying at his home with him. there's a spare bedroom for whoever needs one, vampire or other creature alike. 22. he feeds on willing participants or through blood bags. this hasn't always been true, but its a practice he's been more keen on for the better half of the century. 23. he doesn't resent his parents for what they did to him. he may be a bit bitter at times, but he doesn't resent them. if he had died a normal death then he wouldn't have experienced all that he did. 24. he still hasn't let his punk/grunge phase go. sue him, he was living in seattle in the 80s and it was his life. 25. he's fascinated with technology. he has all the latest gadgets and gizmos because its all endlessly cool to him. 26. he's never worked in a real hospital. charlie has been in shelters and clinics but never a real hospital. mainly this is to avoid detection, though he already uses fake names to publish research and documents. maybe its a bit more of a preference, then. 27. his sister isn't really his sister anymore. elisabeth "died" not too long after charlie came back after his ten-year journey and was reincarnated. charlie did not know about this until he met her over twenty-five years later in the united states. she had some memories of him and a pull to his location and though she isn't "elisabeth" anymore, charlie forever thinks of her as his little sister. 28. charlie also loves reality television. he can't believe some of the stupid shite that gets put on tv these days, and charlie has lived through it all. but he loves trash tv and its definitely his guilty pleasure. 29. charlie hasn't sired anyone. he doesn't plan on doing it anytime soon either. 30. he has a few piercings, mainly because he can't get tattoos. he loves the little extra look that they give him, especially since his skin can't handle tattoos unless he gets them branded on. charlie knows he doesn't like anything enough to let a witch brand him.

to fall in love with //

he’s always been a caretaker. when he was a human, all he dreamed about was becoming a doctor and helping people. he grew up in victorian london and had dreams of making medicine and curing people of their afflictions. even after he was turned and wandered listlessly, traveling the world for many years, he eventually threw fuck all to the wind and decided to fake documents so he could get into medical school. he’s been practicing medicine for over a century now, mainly catering to an underground network of creatures and humans alike. he’s a bit clueless at times, but very charming and hardworking.

to despise //

charlie is trigger happy. he may not look like much, but when there is a call to action he is usually the first to jump to his feet. he cares for those who need help, but is vicious to anyone who opposes his own agenda (especially hunters). he knows that it is in many creatures’ nature to kill, his own included, but once the kills start racking up then that’s when he’ll jump in. he can be manipulative and two-faced and will back stab someone if it means furthering his own radical agenda.
