That is a science advisory board — it will not function better by having fewer scientists on it. It is supposed to look at science. But in the name of balance and diversity, there’s an effort to make it, well … less scientific.

We are sad to report that Rep. Holt today announced his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives, ending 16 years of service. The American Library Association extends the library community's heartfelt thanks to Rep. Holt for his strong support for libraries. Rep. Holt introduced the Workforce Investments through Local Libraries (WILL) Act to integrate libraries into job training efforts. Rep. Holt has also been a consistent supporter of the Library Services and Technology Act, the only federal funding program exclusively for libraries.
