With Warhol and Julian Opie in mind (pop art aesthetic - limited colourful pallet) I've endeavoured to create a "portrait" that presents the recognisable characteristics of FKA Twigs, but with her "individual humanity" omitted in the removal of the eyes. Her face becomes mask-like, as if something that is worn to become the modern cultural icon 'FKA Twigs' - which is something all performers must do, metaphorically at least.

God is your "Buddy", Russell Oliver

The "Buddy" of the title, and the figure dominating the painting, is Buddy Repperton - the high school bully from the movie 'Christine'. Buddy's usual usage means, 'a close friend'. With this domineering image of Buddy Repperton as a bully, I have tried to suggest that powerless humanity would be in error to think of God as 'a close friend' rather to see him as the all-powerful, capricious bully he is.

A small portrait of Marilyn Monroe with lower jaw incomplete, accentuating her lips and breaking-up an iconic visage - a nod to the temporary nature of the existence of all.
