As a russian blogger I decided not to keep up with popular trend.
So here’s a beautiful quotation of Mikhail Lermontov “Hero of our time”
I hope someone will read this.

late 1800s Russian love affairs & agriculture (aka Anna Karenina)
I was asked to do a review of Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. Since the person said they wanted to read it I will leave out spoilers.
First off, this book in enormous & it took me over a month to read & I'm kind of ashamed even though it was long. Also, if you don't know, Tolstoy is the writer of the famous War & Peace which I did not read. But although some people say Anna Karenina is the best book ever written ever, I think the other is more commonly known.
So, the book. All in all I enjoyed it, a lot more than I thought. I'm on a quest to read a lot of classic lit so I'm not expecting to fall in love with a lot of it because I really like books with stories, I don't get deeper meanings. This book didn't really have a lot of that. The only deep parts were really Levin toward the end when he was thinking of religion.
There were so many characters and they all interacted and it was nice. There were too many sometimes to keep straight in my head, but it was alright. Also, my brain can't pronounce Russian names so I butchered them all, I'm sure. Most of the characters were very charming and they were all so unique and all had their own situations.
The only parts I didn't like where about politics and agriculture. They were so confusing but essential to the time period I suppose. The parts about Levin and his peasants were cute though.
Why do I only talk about Levin? Let's mention others. I loved Kitty. Anna was alright, I never liked Vronsky though. Stepan was an idiot. Dolly was alright, she got better as it went on when she was refusing to sell her house (u go grl). I kinda felt bad for Karenin but at the same time not. And that's pretty much the very main characters.
The last thing I have to add is that I don't know how I feel about the end of Anna's individual story (you'll see everyone gets focused on). I liked it because I didn't think Tolstoy would do that, I didn't like it because it because I kind of feel like he shouldn't've. Although, it sort of was the best thing for her.
I kind of think that's it, I don't want to go too far into opinions or critique because of what book this is & I won't be an ass so I'm done haha.
All in all, I recommend this book if you have time to dedicate to it and don't care about some slow or confusing parts when you get a Russian history lesson.
