also I always worry about using the term “metaphor” and being misunderstood, like... the alphabet as a concept is a metaphor for thinking about the sound-structure of speech, useful and limited as metaphors generally are. that doesn’t make it un-real, although it’s not real like rocks are real, and it doesn’t make it silly or without merit.

some altar shots! I just cleared it off/rearranged it, and in the process decided I might want to clean my room. (rule 1 of being a messy bitch: never, ever question the yen to clean.)

there are a number of new, or at least new-ish, additions to the ensemble:

a black scrying bowl

a mortar and pestle

statuettes of a sheep, a bull, and a snake all in the same material

a black-figure goat pitcher bought at the same time as the statuettes

a bit of deer antler wrapped in leather cord, bought in the same place as the statuettes and pitcher

and a fascinating set of rusted metal pieces I found just recently all together- the plate with crossed hooks in the very front, whose function is obscure to me

this is essentially a display configuration, lmao- it’s a little crowded for me to do any serious work on it. but if I’m not actively using it, it may as well look nice!
