Bug of the Day

Got caught out in a thunderstorm last night and had to break down the light setup instead of photographing things. There wasn't much left at that point anyway, because of previous rain, but this cool rustic borer (Xylotrechus colonus) was hiding under a shingle at one of the porch lights. I did not realize that this species was hiding such cool markings on the ventral side (underneath)!

Bug of the Day

A rustic borer (Xylotrechus colonus) and tiny fren

Back in Pennsylvania after a good long while. My mom has accidentally grown (I think) white casperita pumpkins out of her open air compost. Also, the first friend I met was this Rustic Borer (xylotrechus colonus). There’s probably lots of these guys around since the goldrenrod is blooming. This poor fella was missing a leg but was since been caringly freed from my bathroom windowsill.

Short on Moths tonight but rolling in Beetles again. Oh and Pseudoscorpions, don't forget the Pseudoscorpions!!!
