This rustic apple tart is a simple yet elegant dessert that showcases the natural sweetness of apples encased in flaky puff pastry. Perfect for any occasion, this tart is easy to make and sure to impress your guests.
Ingredients: 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed. 3-4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1 tablespoon lemon juice. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces. 1 egg, beaten for egg wash. Powdered sugar, for dusting optional.
Instructions: Start by heating the oven up to 400F 200C. Put some flour on a surface and roll out the puff pastry into a rough rectangle shape. Place the rolled out dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Toss the apple slices with the cinnamon, granulated sugar, and lemon juice in a bowl until they are well covered. Place the apple slices on top of the puff pastry, leaving some space around the edges. Put pieces of butter on top of the apple slices. To make it look old-fashioned, fold the puff pastry's edges over the apples and pleat them as needed. Beat an egg and brush it around the edges of the pastry to make them golden. Put it in an oven that has already been heated up and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are soft. Take it out of the oven when it's done and let it cool down a bit. If you want, you can sprinkle powdered sugar on top before serving.
