starlight express hc: pearl is autistic and im not just saying this because she's my favorite and im autistic but i feel like it makes sense!! i feel like she didnt understand the silent societal rules and that's part of why (in some versions) she seems to not quite realize why racing partners matter so much and why dinah didn't want her to race with greaseball. (yes this could also be because shes just new but i say it's both) she also gets stuck on the idea of her "dream train" and doesnt want to change, she wants to stick with what she already had in her mind. that makes me think she struggles with change and i have experienced that way too many times pearl is my autistic queen thank you for coming to my ted talk
