Some things never change.
It’s been months since illusive Katherine Pierce had supposedly died, leaving the Scooby-Doo gang to revel in their so called win while she once again made a run for her life and settled in New Orleans. Yes, New Orleans was very risky due to Original family returning there, but she had no other option as she was returned as a vampire to the land of living by Esther Mikaelson. The deal they made applied Katherine being Esther’s plan B in case her children refused to become witches, but Katherine had more game than Esther thought and she wasn’t about to allow someone to use her as a blood bag again just because she was a doppelganger. Deciding to take a risk, Katherine payed a visit to Klaus Mikaelson who she hoped still hated his mother enough to make a deal with her – and she was right. Niklaus made a deal with her in a heartbeat, allowing her to stay in New Orleans under his protection as she had provided him with an insight on his mother’s devious plan. Not everyone was particulary happy about her staying there and deep down, she knew Niklaus would be waiting for her single slip so he could end her himself. That’s why Katherine became more careful than ever before and she was doing quite well until certain news reached her, tempting her to start one of her games again just to feel the rush of adrenaline and thrill.
Damon Salvatore himself had arrived to New Orleans and left the scandalous teenage lives of many in Mystic Falls.
Katherine would be lying if she said she wasn’t intrigued by the real reason he left, but still she knew she should play things smart and if the past couple of months in New Orleans had started teaching her anything it was patience. And she was ready to be patient if her plan would work the way she imagined it to. That’s why she turned quiet for a couple of weeks, allowing Damon to settle in and start making some moves around the city. Many times she was tempted to send out something at him and begin playing cat and mouse, but she found it would be way better if it was herself who payed him a visit. After all, she still had some /manners/ and what would shock him better than seeing someone who was supposed to be dead for good…again. Necessary preparation was done and Katherine was ready to set off to his place once he left and then wait for his return and the reunion none of them would ever forget.
The time never seemed to pass slower as she waited for him to leave but once it finally happened, she allowed herself to wait a bit more before heading inside. The place was done in a very Damon Salvatore manner and Katherine couldn’t help chuckling as she moved around, looking and inspecting every corner. For a moment her thoughts flew back to 1864 and the first time she entered his room. She inspected it just like she was doing now, only Damon was right at her heels unlike now, when he was gone and certainly not expecting his Katherine /dearest/. She could even pull a parallel between the look he gave her back then and the one he was about to give her once he came back and found her sitting in his armchair. With a slight smirk, she reached for the bottle of burbon he so innocently left on the table, and poured herself a drink before sinking into the armchair. A couple of drinks, or maybe even a bottle later, Katherine sensed movement and lowered the glass on the table before knitting her hands in her lap just as the door opened and the familiar face of Damon Salvatore showed. “Welcome home, honey.” Katherine said in a sing song voice. With a smirk on her face, she lightly tilted her head to the side, her curls slightly bouncing at the movement as she spoke up yet again. “Did you miss me?”
