My current lifestyle of moving every year and not maintaining a job at any one place for long presents some challenges for things like healthcare and dental insurance. I’d been on Obamacare in the state of Oregon since I quit my full-time job in philanthropy about a year ago. But alas, I no longer live in Oregon, my stay in Connecticut is temporary, and my future residence is still uncertain.
I cancelled the Obamacare coverage while I figure out where I’m going from here, and I’m reading blog posts by full-time RVers to help guide my future healthcare choices. I could use some advice from others who move around frequently and don’t maintain a conventional full-time job and have more experience than I navigating our weird and expensive healthcare system. It sounds very rational once I explain it.
Since my last dental exam was a year and a half ago, I sought an alternative to keep my teeth in order (that shit’s important yo! it impacts your cardiovascular health!). So I purchased a $50 Groupon for a cleaning, exam and x-rays at a local dental practice.
So I’m on the Groupon dental plan and I’m looking for a nomadic semi-retired RVer to give me the full hook up on insurance knowledge. I am so thankful for my good health; my self-prescribed treatment plan of exercise, sleep and regular doses of ice cream is enough for now.
