He turned, crowding into Nico’s space, hands sliding up the front of his hoodie, up his chest and around his neck. “Hi,” Jack breathed.
Nico’s mouth curved, “Hi.”
Jack shook his head lightly, pressing his forehead against Nico’s chest. “Kiss?”
“Yeah?” Nico murmured, slipping his hands to Jack’s hips, pulling him flush. “That’s all you want?
Jack nodded, already tilting his face up. “Mhm.”
Needy. Sweet. Nico brushed his thumb along Jack’s jaw first, slow, unhurried. He liked how Jack followed the touch automatically, eyes fluttering half-shut before anything had even happened. “So impatient,” Nico teased gently.
Jack made a small, frustrated sound and fisted Nico’s hoodie. “Nico.”
Nico dipped down and kissed him. It wasn’t rushed, even though Jack tried to make it that way, pressing up on his toes, chasing, but Nico kept it slow. One hand at his waist, the other sliding up into his hair, tilting his head just right.
Jack melted instantly. The soft little sigh he let out went straight into Nico’s mouth. His fingers curled tighter, body pliant as Nico deepened the kiss just enough to make Jack’s knees wobble.
“Better?” Nico murmured against his lips.
Jack nodded, eyes dazed already. “Again.”
Jack relaxed completely, letting Nico guide it, letting him set the pace, tilt his chin, slide a thumb under the hem of his hoodie to feel the warm skin beneath. Jack shivered but didn’t pull away. He leaned closer, breathing Nico in like that was the only thing he needed.
A soft hum vibrated in his throat when Nico’s hand settled at the small of his back. Inside, there was a burst of laughter–Quinn, Nico recognized almost instantly. Jack broke the kiss just long enough to bury his face in Nico’s neck. “I can still hear them.”
Nico pulled back just slightly, brushing his nose against Jack’s. “You want to go farther?”
Jack hesitated, only for a second, then shook his head and tucked himself closer instead. “No. Just stay here.” The lake shimmered behind them. The dock creaked faintly in the breeze.
Nico wrapped both arms fully around him this time, holding him tight, protective and warm and Jack’s brain went silent. “Okay,” he said softly. “We’ll stay.”
Jack smiled against his collarbone, tilting his head up again, lips brushing Nico’s jaw. “One more,” he whispered.
“I’d give you my entire soul,” Nico murmured against his lips, “very serious.”
“You’re insane,” Jack whispered, but there was no bite to it.
Nico’s thumb brushed over Jack’s cheekbone, “Probably.”
“I didn’t ask for your soul.”
“I know.” Nico leaned in, resting his forehead against Jack’s. “That’s why I’m offering.”
The lake behind them glittered in the late morning sun. Somewhere inside, a cabinet shut too hard and Quinn yelled something unintelligible. It felt a million miles away. Jack swallowed.
“You don’t have to give me everything,” Jack whispered.
Nico smiled faintly. “Too late.”
