I want a RWBY characters reacts to RWBY fic where

a) they actually react to RWBY and not something else,

and b) characters who met RBWYJNR in V7 like the Aces and Robyn get to go from ‘damn the things these kids experienced on their journey to Atlas made them justifiably ballsy and crazy and willing to just throw themselves in’ to ‘oh they’ve just always been like that from day one huh’.

I think that would be neat.

Don't mind me, thinking about Yang Xiao Long punching Salem's chest out to try and save Emerald who had only defected like 10 minutes prior.

It's like the second RWBYJNR accepts a new person onto their side, they just throw their full weight behind them like "We've only had this new teammate for a minute but if anything happened to them we'd kill everyone in this room and then ourselves."

I loved how Ren specifically stated that Oscar is a loved friend. Up until now there has been a lot of speculation in what rwbyjnr thought of Oscar. Did they keep him around because of Ozpin? Did they genuinely like Oscar around? Nobody knew. But now we do.

It’s safe to say that even Oscar doesnt know this because he admitted that “he finally felt a part of the team” and I can’t wait when he finds out how much he is cared for by Jaune and Ren.

I know the writers tried to be subversive by making Salem already immortal but obviously didn't really think through the full implications of what that meant. Such as her being relatively inactive for centuries despite her overpowering everyone and freely able to move as she pleases. Ozpin despite his vast accumulated knowledge could not figure out a way to defeat her in all that time. Not to mention writing themselves into a corner regarding how our band of moronic heroes are going to beat her.

okay but thinking of this there’s such a good comparison to salem & really what she should’ve been in the show; solas from dragon age.

solas is an immortal elf from the series who is the main reason for all the drama in inquisition, & a main reason why he wasn’t able to enact his plan of basically destruction of the current world for his vision of the world is because he was put into a long sleep. even when he woke up he was too weak to enact his plan so instead he gave the catalyst for it to a magister called corypheus but then his plan was foiled by the dragon age equivalent of ruby, the inquisitor.

the anchor is also very easily compared to silver eyes in that it’s the maguffin of the universe that is the key to completing or undoing a plan. but the pro that dragon age has is that solas’s plan is solidified, whereas in rwby it feels like salem, or the writers, change their minds every five minutes so her actions always feel vague or nonsensical, there’s no set goal for her to work towards or for rwbyjnr to fight against in any meaningful way.

in dragon age, there’s also a major question of how the inquisitor is going to defeat solas & prevent him from destroying the world by opening the fade, possibly killing millions; but there are a fair few viable options of how, if that’s the option your inquisitor even chose. whereas with rwbyjnr it really feels like they’re 20 steps behind any type of plan salem has considering the fndm figured out it was them who needed to do something about salem & not ozpin; yet that wasn’t even brought up until 2 volumes later.

in the end they’ve tried to make salem mysterious by shrouding her motivations & what her true plan is but then she just ends up confusing & vague. characters who actually pull off the mysterious vibe without being a confusing mess are solas & flemeth, flemeth is honestly what salem should’ve been smh.

I have seen people criticize clover for not telling robyn about amity and say it shows his blind loyalty going he knew what robyn was like but didnt tell her because of orders

again this mindset just screams of people a. not knowing basic military procedure & b. being willfully ignorant of the dynamics in the scene.

amity was a classified project, the only people in the know where people james trusted [the ace ops] or thought he could trust [rwby&co]. that’s it ! does no one know the meaning of classified project anymore, especially one as important as amity that salem & co would’ve been able to railroad to hell if they knew about it.

robyn’s not in the know because at every turn, she’s inserted herself where she isn’t allowed & specifically fucked up what james’ planning, she isn’t allowed to be in the know when she’s an outlaw masquerading as “the people’s hero” lmao. it isn’t clover’s place to disclose this information to her, to go against an order from his co. i’m not in the military & have little more than basic knowledge but i can imagine the ramifications of clover telling robyn against orders wouldn’t of been pretty if this show had been written by people who knew a lick about the military. @iron-and-ice feel free to jump in here if you like lmao.

following orders is not blind loyalty, it’s clover’s job. you know what was blind loyalty? everyone in _wbyjnroq following ruby’s word without any discourse in the group beyond a tiny 1 minute scene after 4 volumes of doing so wholesale.
