The Grip by AJ Macedonia

It’s not that I’m frightened of letting go. It’s more so being terrified at giving up. I’m not ashamed of being alone. I just feel I’ve had enough. The love I feel for her is so perfervid that the words itself sound, undoubtedly, unspeakably lame. Almost unable to comprehend the quiddity of this love I so greedily have for her. It’s unlike any emotion that has ever possessed my body, hitherto. 

Yet, she looks away. Embarrassed of a reality where our love is alive and flourishing. The beauty of our energy together can be so radiantly present that the thought of this parallel universe brings such a spectacular image. My heart shatters into tiny pieces over the fact she won’t accept it, as I do. 

I have spent so long in turmoil over the loss of her company that I have lost myself completely. I have utterly forgotten my worth and my purpose. The skills and abilities I have to create a pleasant life for myself are more vigorous than I, nor my enemies, could ever imagine. The love in my heart shall never fade. I just hope another spectacular creature crosses paths with me allowing me to fill my heart with a greater love. A true and pure love. My grip induced our downfall. I sabotaged myself by loving too hard. Alas, I must face my treacherous fears head on. I must give up on her.

Although, this is not a bad thing. By giving up on her I bestow upon myself a chance to not give up on myself. I shall take this chance with strife and shape my life into the image of my greatest dreams. Moving to Los Angeles to try to be a writer was never my idea of life, but lately it has presented itself as the best option. The distance will eject her presence from my life allowing me to heal. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t going to miss her. However, in some odd way, I look forward to missing her. She may not know it, but she changed me more than is noticeable. She has been a significant character in this story I call “life”. Short lived, yet significant. 

Here I toast to the love and the joy us humans have the capability of possessing. This is truly a precious trait that gets swept under without any concern. We as humans need to realize and accept our capacity for love and embrace one another. This love can save the world.

63/M/Hairy Arms

Whenever I wake up on a plane I never have a accurate concept of what time is. The thing is when you are on something that is traveling faster than you've ever experienced your concept of time changes. The route a snail takes on a daily basis now seems like the creation of the cosmos. The way the sky rains now seems like a lsd circus with no ringleader. The way the wind pushes my hair feels like a hurricane tearing down a small island. The way the bartender talks feels like the house raking its chips in. The old white man across the bar feels like satan as he hits on someone half his age.
