“she had no doubt that her father would praise her deeds.” was a stab to the heart, by the way! after everything she went through, she thought she was doing everything right and i’m just so augh. the amount of pain she went through because she believed she had to do what the religion taught her was all so saddening. the teachings were absolute, and the pain was a trial from god… she didn’t want to hurt her mother, but amane had to because killing her wasn’t an act of malice, but kindness. she was only ever taught that punishment was best under the guise of it being “good” for her, and that tears me apart so much.

i will say though i am surprised that the cat made no mention because i thought the focus from her deviation of the religion would be because she practiced medicine and the punishment she received from that, but i think we can still assume that still happened because the punishments that did happen were far more often and gave the same abuse
