He hit the nail on the head. Just because you're nice to someone does not mean they're going to date you, sleep with you, etc. Most likely they're being nice to be nice. Because they're a nice person and it's the polite thing to do. It's hard for guys and girls to just spit it out and ask someone out on a date. It'd totally be rude to laugh or blow them off when they are laying out their feelings like that but in the past I find it's better to just say say no if you're not interested and not leave anything open to interpretation. Even though it can hurt. It's not cool to drag someone along. Things can get awkward/ugly from there for both of you. If you truly are friends, you'll stay friends. But if you were only being their friend to try to date them let them go so you both can find someone else.
