Ryan was born and raised in LA, California. Since early age he wanted to be as his father so he became lawyer.

Growing up in LA gave him a lot of opportunities and with his parents being always busy it was only natural he got into many troubles during his teen years. But his father was always able to get him out of any situation.

Ryan’s mother died when he was 19 years old and he blames his father for her death. He hasn’t spoken to his father since his mother’s funeral.

Eventually he wants to come back to his home town but for now he feels like he needs a break from that life.

It was during the night he was hanging out with his friends. Ryan noticed two people who looked familiar in the distance. Just to realize they were his parents. Staying further away, he didn’t want to be seen, since he was drunk and high he witnessed a terrible crime. His mother was shot while his father was just watching. Not doing anything. As the group heard a shot, they all freaked out and run away. But Ryan stayed for a few seconds longer trying to find out who were people who killed his mother. He had no idea.

Ryan Westbrook was raised amid privilege and an atmosphere of high expectations. His father, Justin Westbrook was a self-made millionaire, who built his fortune in the cutthroat world of businesses and banks. By contrast his mother, Caroline came from an aristocratic background, the granddaughter of a Canadian oil tycoon. They met while they were at university, years before Justin conquered the stock market.

Growing up, Ryan was not the average spoiled kid. Despite having millions in their bank account, the Westbrooks didn’t want to raise a kid who believed he was entitled to the world just because he had won the birth lottery. He was sent all summers to his grandparent’s farm in Alberta where he worked to earn money since his parents weren’t going to hand him money just because they had much of it.

Justin Westbrook never expected his son to follow his footsteps, and he preferred it that way. To him, his son was too good hearted for the cold and ruthless world of investment. However, this didn’t mean he thought less of his son, who always showed an aptitude for science. Although his life at home was idyllic, at school he was constantly teased by the older kids who only saw a skinny nerd boy. However, by the time he turned sixteen he had outgrown his awkward phase and had turned out into a good looking young man that stood out from the rest of the spoiled kids in his class.

The time to leave the nest came when he turned eighteen and had the tough decision of picking a university. His first choice was his parent’s alma mater, Princeton but the last thing Ryan wanted was to attend an Ivy League full of the same spoiled rich kids with whom he had grown up. Instead, he decided to move to stay in Canada and study biology at the University of Toronto where he would graduate four years later with honors.

Going to med school was not an impromptu decision, he had known he wanted to become a doctor since he was seven. He only applied to one school and it was not a surprise when he got accepted into the University of British Columbia. Little did he know that moving to Vancouver would change his life. Although he had no need to have a job to pay for his studies, he got a job as a barista in a coffee shop near campus. There, he met another UBC student, a couple of years younger than him.

Meghan hadn’t been his first love, but she was his first serious relationship. They dated for almost five years before getting engaged, a news that his parents widely celebrated throwing a big party. The couple moved back to Ryan’s hometown where he started his residency. After months of planning, the day finally came. The Westbrooks had spent an enormous amount of money in the wedding, but not even all the money in the world could spare them from the public embarrassment they were about to go through. Meghan never showed up to the wedding, not leaving an explication of her decision to run away the day of their wedding.

Months went by and just when Ryan was ready to move on when he received the news that Meghan was about to get married to another young man that she had met during her engagement party. Devastated by the news, Ryan decided to leave Toronto and moved to Montreal where he would live for the next four years before moving back to Toronto to be closer to his parents.

Ryan has never cared about material things, and most people would never realize of his wealthy background until a quick search on the internet let them know. He lives a simple life and spends most of his time at the hospital, he is also about to start a fellowship. He hasn’t dated since his last relationships, in a way, you can say he has given up the idea of love. He is reserved, but once he trusts a person he is very open. Ryan wouldn’t call himself an introverted but he enjoys spending time on his own, although he calls it ‘taking a break from people’.

He is characteristically humble and unassuming, and rarely call attention to himself. He is loyal and hardworking. He is typically involved in social groups, but do not want the spotlight: he is more likely to be found behind the scenes, working diligently to fulfill their role. Ryan rarely discloses personal information quickly. He is a compassionate listener, and typically remember details about people.
