So for Yumi, how does she get on with Alec and Scott (or whatever name you headcanon for her twin)? Good happy family or less so? Were you expecting her to fall for her LI or did it just happen?
For all appearances, Yumi got along well with her father and Sean/Scott, and it wasn’t that they argued a lot in private, but at least with Alec, he was always distant, removed. Whether it was about his work, or their mother, he never really seemed to be there. Not that Ellen was much different, always busy with work. She only seemed to have time for Sean because of his biotics.
Yumi was always close to Sean though. Even though he was the younger twin, he always looked out for her. He was the one that helped to make sure certain things were hidden away (her self destructive kick) from the parents. He forced her into joining the Alliance, and then later in joining the Initiative. But even so, it was the two of them.
It was always forced merriment when the family did try to spend time together, especially as Ellen grew sick. It just never quite felt like a family to Yumi, not in the sense it appeared in vids and even with other families that they knew. (It didn’t help that in order to conceive, Alec and Ellen had to undergo IVF treatments, and Ellen had a surprisingly low amount of eggs to use. As a result, donor eggs were used to help ensure implantation. It was never made into a big deal, but it was known that Yumi’s conception was from one of the donor eggs. That added to her feeling of not quite feeling like a family.)And, no, Yumi was not expecting to meet someone and fall in love, let alone with Reyes. It did kind of just happen, but he was the first person, with Sean being in a coma, that she felt she could connect with. Sure, she knew he was a liar and a thief, but when it was just them, it was like the walls came down, and they just had a connection. Plus, thanks to her self indulgent (and previously self destructive ways), she has a problem saying no to the things that she wants .. .and she wanted Reyes.
