I think part of the reason I sympathize so much with Ryne right off the bat is she's got the standard teenager treatment of having all this new responsibility piled on her shoulders while still in many ways being treated like a child, but cranked up to eleven because the stakes of that responsibility are saving the world. She's been told she'll be responsible for killing the Lightwardens if the Warrior of Light can't do it, but she's still given the "run along now, the grown-ups are talking" treatment in Il Mheg. And as the viewer of course I understand why Thancred wants to talk to Urianger and the Warrior of Light out of her hearing, but from Ryne's perspective imagine how frustrating and disempowering it must be to know that for everything that rests on her, she still isn't allowed to take part in an adult discussion about it. And that's before we even get to the question of the decision she might have to make later about Minfilia's soul, how she thinks Thancred feels about her personally, and all that. It's just the usual mundanely infuriating parts of being a teenager but Worse.

And I think this does tie into the more specific issues surrounding, Minfilia, and is ultimately the same problem. Everyone thinks Ryne needs to be protected but what she actually needs is to be empowered.
