ANE Character Guidebook - Chapter One - The Students
What’s this? An attempt to organize the character guidebook translations I’ve done before? I’m shocked too. Now, with extra content not previously translated before! Here are the first 15 files in the guidebook at last in a single post! This contains information on most of the Exwires and their families. I might add some pictures at a later point.
File No. 01 Okumura Rin
“Even if I am Satan’s son, I will become an exorcist!”
Satan's bastard son who inherited his blue flames and chose to take the path of becoming an exorcist in honor of his late adoptive father.
A youth who is the descendant of Satan, the King of Gehenna. When he unsheathes his sword, the koumaken, the blue flames and his demonic powers are activated. The Knights of the True Cross Order sentenced him to death, but that sentence has since been placed on hold. He is currently earnestly training to become an exorcist.

Exorcist Aptitude Report: Although there are still many areas where his technique and knowledge are lacking, the special properties of his blue flames have attracted a great deal of attention from the Knights of the True Cross. We look forward to seeing his future growth.
Special Traits - His demonic flames, which are extremely effective in exorcising demons during fights.
Rin is a unique existence born half human, half demon. The demonic blue flames that he possesses have proven to be a powerful weapon against demons. Additionally, Rin has the ability to choose which targets can be burned or not.
Technique - Tends to rely heavily on his flames, so future challenges include strategy and teamwork.
While Rin has powerful demonic powers, his own abilities are still at the cadet level. He lacks basic knowledge of demons and tactics, so he immediately shows weakness when facing opponents against whom fire is ineffective.
Mental State - He is not trapped by negative emotions and has high mental fortitude.
Although he is burdened with a heavy fate, he is surprisingly composed about it and is gradually coming to terms with his situation. This positivity is important for exorcists who are frequently exposed to the twisted, wicked words of demons.
Key People:
Fujimoto Shiro - The man who raised Satan’s son. Rin’s easygoing nature is strongly influenced by Shirou.
Okumura Yukio - His younger twin brother who is his polar opposite. Rin secretly respects his talent and studious attitude.
Amaimon - The King of Earth who he once fought and who considers him a rival. However, Rin can barely remember his name.
Key Items:
The koumaken - The source of Rin’s power. His demon heart is sealed inside the sword. It is also the principal object of the Myoudha sect.
The hairclip he received from Suguro - He uses it to hold his bangs in place when he is studying or cooking. It is a sign of his reconciliation with Suguro.
T-shirts with unique designs - His T-shirts have a unique style and he likes food-themed ones such as the one he wore at Kyoto tower that said “Teriyaki Chicken.”

File No. 02 Okumura Yukio
“I never again want to live with a fear of the dark!”
Despite being Rin’s younger twin brother, he is a young, genius exorcist.
Rin’s younger twin brother. He has been able to see demons since he was young due to the temptaint that his brother gave him. Wanting to become stronger, he received exorcist training and became the youngest exorcist in history. After Rin decides to become an exorcist, his determination to protect his older brother became even stronger.

Exorcist Aptitude Report: Yukio trained under his adoptive father, the Paladin, and became an exorcist. His skills are recognized even by older exorcists, and he is an active member of the front lines.
Disposition - He is able to responds to any situation with his innate knowledge.
As his dream is to become a doctor, he is a very studious person. He is enrolled in True Cross Academy as a scholarship student. He uses his intellect when exorcising demons, being able to devise strategies to suit the situation.
Skills - Unparalleled accuracy and hit rate, never missing his target.
As a result of training to shoot since he was young, his skill of hitting his target is almost 100% unless he is interrupted. Additionally, he is able to use guns other than just dual pistols, such as sniper rifles.
Mental State - A personality that accumulates stress and is at risk of becoming possessed.
As an exorcist, Yukio’s only weakness despite his physical abilities is his lack of mental fortitude. He shoulders all his problems on his own and accumulates stress, which is a sign of mental immaturity. Toudou has taken advantage of this weakness in the past, making him lose his composure. Strengthening his mental fortitude is something he will need to work on in the future.
Key People:
Okumura Rin - His older twin brother who is his polar opposite in terms of personality and behavior. He aspires to be like him but also finds him to be an insurmountable wall.
Kirigakure Shura - His father’s apprentice who he met when he was an Exwire. Although he recognizes her abilities, they don’t get along.
Moriyama Shiemi - A girl who he met after he just became an Exorcist. He finds comfort in the sight of her smile.
Key Items:
Dual Pistols - Yukio’s pistols and exorcist coat are his absolute must-haves when he is on a mission.
Portable Medicine - As one with a Doctor Meister, he carries a variety of indispensable medicines. He keeps them around his waist in case of an emergency.
Glasses - Yukio’s life. He keeps more than 10 pairs in stock at his desk.
[TN: There is some commentary here regarding Yukio’s temper levels, highlighting when Shura irritated him in the camp arc (40%) or when Rin broke his glasses before they got Kuro (60%)]

File No. 03 Moriyama Shiemi
“I want to be able to support everyone too!”
She is aiming to better herself as a person by becoming an exorcist.
The sole daughter of the Futsumaya’s shopkeeper which only caters to exorcists. She has been physically weak, naive and cowardly since she was a child, so in order to better herself, she is attending the exorcist school. She is growing physically and mentally in order to match her peer’s levels when it comes to exorcisms.

Exorcist Aptitude Report: Although her skills in exorcism are low, she makes effective use of her knowledge regarding various plants and primarily supports her allies defensively. She is valuable asset with outstanding talent to continue to watch in the future.
Special Traits - A Tamer with exceptional talent.
She can summon Greenmen. They have the ability to generate plants as needed and can be used in battles against other demons. Unlike with other familiars, there is no master-servant relationship between them.
Knowledge - She has a wealth of knowledge about plants and demon pharmacology.
She has a deep understanding of demon pharmacology and makes use of the plant knowledge she gained through working with the Futsumaya’s medicinal herbs and gardening. She has a deep attachment to plants to the point that she gives them unique names, but unfortunately this cannot be evaluated properly during class.
Skills - A key player in team battles who provides defense and healing.
She is an excellent source of support who can defend allies with plants while they are chanting arias, and who can treat whose those who have been injured by demons. In the battle against the Impure King, she was able to fight against rot demons by using her plant knowledge.
Key Persons:
Okumura Rin - He saved her from a demon. She admires his fearless courage.
Okumura Yukio - A longtime regular at the shop. She feels a kind of admiration for Yukio, who excels both academically and physically.
Kamiki Izumo - An acquaintance from exorcist school. Her initial harsh attitude has changed and recently they have become closer...?
Key Items:
Kimono - Until she had to wear a uniform for her missions, she only wore Japanese clothing. Even now, she still prefers kimonos over casual clothing.
Herbal Tea - She makes a blend of her own tea leaves which is very popular with guests.
Magic Circle - A simplified magic circle for summoning familiars. She always carries a stock of them.
[TN: There is some commentary regarding Shiemi’s plant knowledge, highlighting scenes such as when she summoned aloe to cure Paku, or rice for Izumo’s foxes.]

File No. 04 Suguro Ryuuji
“I am going to defeat Satan! Don’t laugh at my ambition!”
A descendant of the head priest of the Myou Dha sect who aims to defeat Satan.
Many of the followers of his temple diminished after the Blue Night, so he made a vow to become an exorcist and rebuild his temple. After the incident with the Impure King, he reconciled with his father, the head priest, with whom he had been on bad terms. He is aiming to pass the Aria and Dragoon certification exams on the first try.

Exorcist Aptitude Report: Although he has a hotheaded personality, it stems from how deeply he cares about his friends. His skills as an Aria and his value as a blood descendant of the head priest of the Myou Dha sect make him an important player.
Special Traits - His perfect recall ability is an indispensable factor of his talent as an Aria.
Suguro is highly skilled in recitation, which is a necessary skill for arias. Since childhood, he has been listening to his father’s sutras like lullabies and his memory is such that he can remember a line after hearing it twice, making him perfect for the role of Aria.
Technique - A logistical support type who is skilled in exorcisms and barrier magic through his aria chants.
An aspiring aria who needs the protection of his friends during battle. Although he is concerned about his fighting style, his aria skills is among the best in his class. He is also skilled in warding to protect himself and is expected to become a force to be reckoned with.
Bloodline - He inherited the Aeon Wave Flame thanks to his bloodline
Although he is only an Exwire, he was able to use the Aeon Wave Flame that he inherited from the upper high class demon Karura in the fight against the Impure King, and used the barrier spell to prevent the spread of the Impure King’s spores. Now that Karura is unavailable, he can no longer use the Aeon Wave Flame, but he continues to do a great job in fulfilling his duties as one of his lineage.
Key Person:
Suguro Tatsuma - His father who has been keeping him away from his destiny as the future head priest of the Myou Dha. Upon learning the reason, his feelings for his father deepen.
Okumura Rin - Although he often clashes with Rin, it is because they both share a common bond of caring about their friends.
Shima Renzou - His childhood friend who is a spy for the Illuminati. This was a big shock for Suguro to learn.
Key Item:
Prayer beads - An essential item used when chanting arias. He always carries it with him.
Tatsuma’s letter - The letter that his father entrusted to Rin. It prompted Suguro to return the Myoudha’s main object of worship, the Kurikara, to Rin.
Hair accessories - In addition to his headband, he has a variety of hairpins and hair ties to keep his hair up.
[TN: There is some commentary here that discusses Suguro’s fashion sense, and one particular fun tidbit is him mentioning he is conscious of time, place and occasion when choosing his outfits/accessories, as such, he chooses to take off his earrings in the Kyoto arc; he has them on the day they arrive, but takes them off the day after.]

File No. 05 Miwa Konekomaru
“Someday, I want to serve the Myou Dha...!”
To repay the Myou Dha’s kindness, he joined the exorcist school with Suguro.
He is the current head of the Miwa family and a descendant from a lineage of priests from the Myou Dha sect. After he lost his family due to the Blue Night, he was taken in by Suguro’s temple and depends on the members of the Myou Dha sect. At school, he aims to become an Aria. Although he has a gentle personality, he puts in hard work every day towards his goals.

Exorcist Aptitude Report: The Knights of the True Cross have high regard for his ability to become a key strategist during team battles. However, his skills as an aspiring aria are still in their infancy. Still, there are high hopes for his future.
Disposition - He analyses situations calmly and strategies the use of his teammates skills
Among his exwire peers who tend to act alone, he is skilled at making more strategic plans. Furthermore, he has leadership skills that allow him to give clear instructions and he has an excellent tactical eye that allows him to analyze the enemy’s attributes and exploit their weaknesses.
Mental State - He puts his life on the line to protect Suguro and stands up against demons with an unwavering heart
Although he is usually gentle, when it comes to missions he shows his true colors by standing up against powerful demons. He is ready to put his life on the line whenever Suguro is in danger.
Skills: He makes full use of the scriptures he has learned and is good at supporting his allies
He is an aspiring Aria and has memorized many Death Verses, although he cannot compare to Suguro. In addition to learning chants that exorcise demons, he can also chant mantras that can help strengthen a demon’s elemental fire for example, making him a reliable supporter of his allies. Further memorization of Death Verses will serve him well.
Key Person:
Suguro Ryuuji - A childhood friend and the son of the master of the Myou Dha sect. Although they are close friends, he calls him “Bon.”
Shima Renzou - A childhood friend and a member of the Myoudha sect. Although they are close friends, he is sometimes put off by Renzou’s cold-hearted side.
Shima Juuzou - The second son of the Shima family. He dotes on Konekomaru, treating him like him like a child to the point of hoisting him up in the air.
Key Item:
Glasses - Konekomaru has very poor eyesight, so this is an essential item. Furthermore, taking them off appears to be the trick to avoiding being taken in by illusions?!
Vajra - A Buddhist ritual tool. It is a weapon used to drive away demons, but Konekomaru only uses it in emergencies.
Cat Teaser - A toy for cats. He always keeps one on hand in case he runs into a cat to play with while he’s out.
[TN: There is a section here that talks about his observations/notes on the rest of the team, citing their weaknesses and strengths, such as Izumo being uncooperative, and Renzou indecisive. He does not feel very favorably towards Takara as expected lol.]

“I’ve got a rotten personality, so I hate to lose! That’s just how I am!”
An aspiring Tamer that comes from a lineage of shrine maidens who can already control two foxes
Izumo already had the talent to summon demons at practical combat level when she enrolled. However, the reason why she aims to become an exorcist has not yet been revealed. It may be related to her lineage...

Exorcist Aptitude Report - In addition to her skills as a Tamer, she takes her studies very seriously. However, her weak point lies in her lack of cooperation...
Skills - She is highly skilled in using the powers of her summons
Izumo’s familiars are Inari’s divine messengers, Miketsu and Ukemochi. During battle, they use their spirit power to fight against other demons. They are also able to create holy water or carry heavy items, making them a very versatile resource for those who have a quick, imaginative wit.
Behavior - Tends to avoid others and acts alone
Likely due to a past incident, Izumo likes to distance herself from others more than necessary. As an individual, she is highly skilled and can handle most things on her own, which make her even more likely to neglect teamwork. However, after interacting with the other students, she appears to be warming up to them... It is worth continuing to keep an eye on her.
Bloodline - Daughter of the Head Priestess who calms the curse of the Nine Tails
Izumo was expected to take over as the Head Priestess someday, following the footsteps of her mother Tamamo, who has been responsible for calming the curse of the Nine Tails. However, after a certain incident, the world around Izumo changed completely...
Key Person:
Kamiki Tamamo - Izumo’s mother. Although she is unreliable and has limited abilities as a functioning member of society, her divine summoning skills as a priestess are among the best in history.
Kamiki Tsukumo - Izumo’s younger sister. She calls Izumo “sis” and is very attached to her; Izumo in turn protects her with tremendous care.
Paku Noriko - Izumo’s only trusted friend. Although she has no talent for exorcism, she enrolled in cram school with Izumo for her sake.
Key Item:
Magic Circle - Used to summon her foxes. One is needed for each fox. She always carries several around in case one gets torn.
Tsukumo’s doll - Izumo made this fox doll to comfort her younger sister who used to be shunned by othersher. It has a very handmade quality to it.
[TN: There is a section here that highlights and ranks some of her snappy lines to indicate how honest she was or not, with 100 being honest and 10 being a tsundere lie. When she told Renzou to not come close to her while they were at the beach, that was ranked at 100 points, and when she attended the festival and told herself it was only because she didn’t want to break a promise, it was ranked at 10 points.]

“Cram school is boring!”
A “coordinator” of unknown background handpicked by Mephisto
A mysterious student who keeps his distance from others and uses his puppet via ventriloquism to communicate. He is the son of the president of the toy company Takara Hobbies and is a second-year student. It was recently revealed that he is one of Mephisto’s agents.

Mephisto Pheles - The person who enrolled Takara in exorcist school. He predicted the Illuminati’s movements and instructed Takara to help out.
Key Item:
Favorite Puppet - A rabbit (?) puppet that Takara always wears on his hand. The puppeteer uses the mouth of this puppet to summon other dolls.
Exorcist Aptitude Report: As he does not officially have the rank of tamer, he is not recognized as an exorcist by the Knights of the True Cross Order. There are many aspects about him that are unknown, but his abilities are speculated to be on par with Shura’s who is an upper first class exorcist.
Special Skills - He only ever speaks through his puppet. Furthermore, there was a mysterious awakening..?
Usually Takara has little presence and does not try to get involved with his surroundings. When he does participate, he speaks through his puppet. Is it really Takara himself who is speaking...?
Abilities - A powerful tamer with Type 2 skills who can summon demons with ease.
Takara has shown himself to be able to summon and control dolls as a puppeteer, and to conjure demons to possess objects. Both are advanced techniques that only a Tamer Type 2 can perform.
Takara’s Summons
Jean, Groom Version. - A male version dress up doll from the Mika Friend series. He is a handsome young man figure with a gentlemanly aura that will make anyone fall for him.
Super Mech Warrior: Sentogaia - A life-sized robot toy. It is made of plastic and is resistant to being exorcized. What is the difference between the Rocket Punch and Missile Punch...?
Knife Rabbits: Production Model, Stuffed Animals - These stuffed rabbits are kind of evil, scary and cute. Summon 100 of them at once and they’ll transform into a nightmarish army!
Fox God Mike - A fox doll that Takara searched for at the Inari Taisha shrine to summon Mike into. It cost 1.2 million yen, so the results must be worth it!

“Izumo-chan, you should be more honest with your feelings!”
A former student of the exorcist school who understands Izumo
When they were kids, she reached out to Izumo who was an outcast at school and they became best friends. She enrolled in exorcist cram school but dropped out after realizing she was not suited for it. Although she gave up on the path of exorcism, she still spends every day with Izumo.

Rin’s classmate who is frightened of demons
One of Rin’s classmates who suddenly began to see demons. At first, he was afraid of Rin, but they became close. He became Rin’s first friend in class.

Eyedrops that help someone stop seeing demons - The eyedrops that Rin got for Godaiin. Godaiin didn’t use them because he probably thought it would be like denying the existence of his friend who had helped him.

“Without anyone to support you, you’re nothing but scum!”
A boy who was seen killing pigeons and who was possessed by a demon
Rin beat him up after catching him was messing around with his friends and killing off pigeons. He enrolled in True Cross Academy and was surprised to find that Rin had also become a student there and actively hides from him.
