Ryo returns! Only to never been seen again award. I look how he starts yelling at Mamoru in the middle of the busy crosswalk to get everyone's attention like it was pedophile going after a teenager.

Minako's backstory. I hate this was cut in the original English dub. So glad to learn more about Minako's backstory. Hoping she can find someone she can be happy with in the future.

This episode was pure filler in my opinion. The senshi pretending to fight each other so the Dark Kingdom thought it would leave Sailor Moon vulnerable.

Back story of the Silver Millennium. I would have loved to know more about this time! But at the same time because so little is known other than the last few days of the kingdom and a few scattered things here and there... it does me a lot of to work with to fill in my own gaps. Hmm.

Kotono Mitsuishi (seiyuu for Usagi) said in an interview kids were so depressed by the senshi dying they didn't want to eat. The original Japanese version compared to the original English version is so different. The girls were just in the "Negaverse" and cut the entire episode into half an episode.

Mars with the peace sign is so iconic. She knows she is walking into her death but she is determined to protect her Princess.

This scene was so powerful. All of friends are gone but their spirits are still cheering her on. They gave the strength to keep going.

The battle against Prince Endymion must have been the hardest fight she ever faced knowing the person she loves is trying to kill her.

After this scene we never see the star locket again. What happened to it???? Did she leave it behind? Was it destroyed somehow?

Princess Serenity vs Queen Beryl. I love the English song, "Carry On" that was played during this battle, fitting I reused it for Rebirth. I feel like it captures the battle so well.

Today’s life lesson is about a boy who looks a lot like Shinji Ikari from NGR, but is not. Meet Ryo Urawa — a boy whose psychic abilities have made him aware of his alter ego as a youma.

Ryo is feeling distraught because he has seen visions of himself fighting against Sailor Mercury in battle, and while he doesn’t want to be turned into a youma and bring harm to his friend or anyone else, he feels completely powerless to stop it. So he asks Mercury to kill him if he becomes a youma.

(Sailor Mercury does not like that Ryo said this.)

She immediately gets up and tells Ryo that his future is his to create — all he needs is to believe in himself.

And it’s true! Even if something bad is likely to happen, that doesn’t mean that we are powerless to do everything in our ability to try to stop it. And sure, we may not actually be able to stop the bad thing from happening, but in Ryo’s case, nobody was stopping him from at least trying, other than himself.

So anyway, about a minute later, Zoisite appears and ends up turning Ryo into a youma……Zoisite instructs the youma to attack Sailor Mercury, but……

Ryo is still in there somewhere!

Even as a youma, Ryo’s willpower is strong, and instead of attacking Sailor Mercury, he goes after Zoisite himself.

I think this lesson is more important now than ever because of how the state of the world has been for so long now. Climate change, for example. Things are already not great, but they’re predicted to get worse over time. Does that mean that we don’t try to do everything in our power to limit the negative impacts of climate change as much as possible? If anything, it should embolden us to take action. And that’s why I really love Ami’s words in this episode. They serve as a wonderful reminder to Ryo, and all of us, really, that we still have agency.
