I don't even know why I made this. I needed JackRyoKiyuu content and this doesn't even match the song but I NEEDED TO DRAW THIS AND I DON'T KNOW WHY.
So anyways. Jackryokiyuu art inspired by the mere title of the song Good Luck Babe! I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO TRY THIS SPECIFIC COLORING STYLE YIPPEE!!!
I was thinking of doing some matching art with Jack and Kiyuu so I'll probably do that another time! IN THE MEANTIME TAKE THE BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS I POURED INTO THIS FOR 2 DAYS STRAIGHT WHAT THE HELL HOW DID I EVEN DO THIS.

Mentions! (U can ask to be on the mention list!): @skriblee-ksk lmao fr
A girl who wishes to return to the past for many reasons. She’s someone who wants to know all about the current world, but can’t abandon her unknown self and family for the same reason. She’s awkward in actions but straightforward enough to learn all that she wants to.
TRAITS: For this Specific Soul-Piece of Kitomi
She’s optimistic to the point of naivety at first, but she’s extremely clever, memorizing concepts in class and being able to correctly mimic actions with a couple of cautious tries (as long as it’s not cooking).
With a heavy desire to recall her past, all the motives for herself stem from the desire to go home. At first, it’s just because she doesn’t know anything, and going home is the easiest way to find out who she was, but she soon realizes that she’s started depending on the concept of ‘home’ for every single thing.
This soul-piece of Kitomi does not have any memories of her past, nor does she have any memories of her time as a ghost. This soul did not spend any time as a ghost and immediately possessed a body.
She is still cleithrophobic, an obsessive organizer, and is the worst at lying. However, she’s gotten a talent for twisting the truth and derailing people from her true thoughts because she’s realized she shouldn’t have her entire heart on her sleeve constantly.
Being put in constant danger helps her mature from her ignorant-hopeful persona.
Because she is constantly put in danger (or also like. Minor annoyances.) her learning style is almost completely efficient, learning the basics for everything and only delving deeper into it when she has the time to. She doesn’t actively practice self-defense, but she has learned to punch properly in case she gets in danger while others aren’t around. In the later books, she befriends Silver and learns basic sword-fighting from him (it was a rigorous two-day regime. Kiyuu nearly died (again), but she had fun because it was informational. She never really has any time to apply her knowledge though).
HOME: Her Anchor
Kiyuu’s anchor is home. Home is where her identity lies. Home is where the knowledge of her past lies. Home is the place where all her questions can be answered: Who is she? What was she like before she lost her memories? Is she still herself? Will she still be able to be herself if she finds out?
What was her family like? Did she have friends? Pets? What kind of basic knowledge has she forgotten? What happened to her to make her forget? Did the people she might have once loved forget her? Will the people who she loves now forget her?
And which is more important to her?
It’s not like this world is less important than her past. Even she knows that the experiences she’s gathered in this world are much more valuable, and it’s completely irrational to abandon this place for a past she doesn’t even know exists.
Nonetheless, she can’t let go of home. No matter if she’s been having dreams that her home might not be what she wanted. No matter how much her brain tries to convince her to stay in increasing frequency. She refuses to let go. She can’t let go.
She’s never been ambitious. Any and all goals she’s had is something she could give up on if she deemed it unachievable. The exception is her home. She’s gotten far too attached to it that she wouldn’t be able to let go even if she tried.
She wants to. She wants to let go. She wants to be ambitious. She wants to feel happiness and sadness the way others do. She wants to feel pain and she wants to feel love as much as possible. She wants to be able to miss something so badly that she might die. Maybe that’s why she wants to go home. Because if she goes home and becomes whole, she’ll grieve with all her heart. She’ll be able to remember her life when she was home and grieve that she left it, exactly as others do.
It’s not just that. It never was just one reason and it never will be. What matters is it’s her anchor. Home will always be what she’s searching for, no matter what it means to her.
RYOKO: Her Home
Ryoko is Kiyuu’s home, and she is partly aware of this, even since the beginning. Ryoko is the person she’ll depend on for anything. The person she’ll assist if needed. The person Kiyuu loves. As soon as they arrived in Ramshackle, in Kiyuu’s mind, they were already bonded. Ryoko was immediately labeled as her home, albeit a completely temporary one. More than a home, Ryoko was a shelter. A place of refuge before she’d continue on her journey towards her true home.
Ryoko was kind and knowledgeable. She didn’t mind Kiyuu’s desperation or excitement-fueled rants, nor did she ever chastise Kiyuu for her mistakes due to inexperience. She loved learning about this world, much more so because Ryoko supported her.
Even if her environment was dangerous or stressful, the little chats in between classes with Ryoko always brightened her day. And arriving at a Ramshackle which they had both cleaned up was always refreshing. Kiyuu depended on Ryoko, Grim, and the ghosts the most.
It’s not hard to accept that Ryoko is her home. That aspect of it was never hard to accept. The hardest part was that her definition of home had changed, and she always wanted to remain constant and predictable. She liked organization and memos and notes because she liked the familiarity. And more than that, she didn’t want to leave anything behind, ever.
Her past still matters. Maybe in the far future, it’ll still continue to matter. But what she wanted the most was a home, not her past. She wanted a place to belong, with her identity and acceptance. All the things she was never allowed to have before her death. She has it here. And she can find another goal anyway. Set her anchor down on something else. That’s what living means.
a/n: general stuff i wrote in a shared google doc w @kathxrat-01 but never posted here. bc. idk. i have this bad thing where my body refuses to share important information if it’s not in chronological order. but whatever i want ppl to know more abt kiyuu beyond what i show in art. which is mostly jackiyuu and has no relevance to her journey of self-discovery. yeah.
anyways. i’ll post a timeline later too. bc i did also create that.
*Note that this mini event takes place in the future, years after the character's have graduated and left Night Raven College. Lydia and Silver have two kids by the time they get married, Ryuumi (their adopted son, age 6) and Momo (their biological son, age 4) They live in Briar Valley (specifically in the house Lilia raised Silver in), with Lilia visiting/staying over often (he basically lives with them lol ♡)*
You open your mailbox one morning to find a letter, wrapped in twine and wild flowers. Your name was written neatly on the front, with small drawings in crayon surrounding it (done by a child). Inside the letter was an invitation, inviting you to a joyous occasion.
Lydia and Silver are getting married, and you're invited! ♡
The wedding and reception will be held outdoors, in the woods near their home (essentially their backyard lol ♡). The wedding will have chairs on each side of the aisle for guests to sit, decorated in soft pinks, blues, and gold (alongside the natural plant life). The reception will have tables and chairs, along with a dance floor and buffet (that will be catered).
Since this mini event takes place in the future, think of this as a fun opportunity to imagine what your OC and OC x Canon's future will be like! Maybe they're married, or have kids of their own? Or maybe they're separated, and have a reunion at the wedding?? 👀👀👀
Is your OC attending as a guest, or are they part of the wedding? Like a bridesmaid, or groomsman, or even being Lydia's hairstylist for the day! It's up to you ♡
There's no dress code/requirements either! It's moreso what you think your OC / OC x Canon would wear if they got invited to a wedding (or were apart of a wedding party!) ♡
Once people start responding to their invitations (whether it be with art, writing, etc) I'll write some scenarios to go along with it, and tag you when it's posted ♡
Thank you! ♡♡♡
An invite from Lydia?! And to her wedding, no less? Kiyuu RSVPed immediately, of course!! Along with a couple of questions such as: What’s the dress code? When should they be there by and is it fine if they arrive early? Is Grim allowed to be there (this one was more of a warning for the food lmao)?
All the questions were answered swiftly, and all Kiyuu had was to tell Ryoko (@kathxrat-01) about it.
Of course Kiyuu was joking, but throwing around flowers seemed kind of fun. Oh well, that spot was probably taken by one of Lydia’s boys, and they’d be much cuter anyway.
The most major thing left was choosing a gift:
“What should we gift them? Ah, I wonder if they’d appreciate a video of the pictures I took of them when they were back in NRC, haha! That’s be nostalgic!”
“Oh, that might be cute!”
“… Kiyuu, did you take those pictures with permission?”
“…”
“Kiyuu.”
“The, but to capture the candid—”
“Kiyuu, that’s rude! How many times do I have to tell you…”
Ryoko and Kiyuu ended up agreeing to move all photos of Silver and Lydia to the USB and permanently delete them from the camera memory so they could do what they wanted to with those photos <3
TY SHEEPY FOR THE INVITATION!!! i cannot wait for their wedding. i’ll probably draw more about kiyuu and even lydia and silver bc the wedding is giving me so many ideas.
drawing older kiyuu wasn’t a struggle at all bc while she’s all like “who am i. what do i want to become. where do i want to go???” during her first year, she becomes much more sure of herself as she ages. AND! She starts being obsessed with wearing dresses (thanks to Ryoko <333)
She hasn’t left Jack nor Ryoko NOR GRIM. i don’t mention him a lot but that’s her SON through and through. I feel like she’s doing something with studying archaeology or general technology stuff.
She looks the way she wants to, she’s doing the thing she’s good at and likes, and she’s still in her beloved QPR. she truly is living her best life. or at least, i feel like she could, so this is what I’ll draw her as!!
Didn’t draw Ryoko because I don’t want to like. make her older version without Wens’ decisions. But ryokiyuu is tightknit as always!!
Kiyuu finds out she can’t go home yet and becomes devastated. Her biggest priority is going back home and regaining her identity.
She dislikes change so she’s cautious in actions that people would use to define her identity. She doesn’t want to be labeled as anyone just yet, especially when she hasn’t labeled herself.
She tries to remember her past, but it continuously ends up as a blank. No headaches or anything, just numbness. She decides to give up on remembering her identity, assuming it’d be easier to find out who she was if she was just able to go back home.
Puts all her efforts into thinking of ways to go back home (and what home would look like for her).
Current RyoKiyuu dynamic: Kiyuu did not get attached to Ryoko until she was properly settled into Ramshackle. Kiyuu decided Ryoko was the most reasonable and amiable person around and put the entirety of her trust in Ryoko.
Book 1:
Total pushover and goes along with nearly everything.
Would like to avoid conflict as much as possible (which is. NOT possible). She apologizes for every little thing.
Still has no set identity, but just tries to free up as much time as possible to find ways to go home.
Mostly written on sticky notes. She gets her tack board then.
She doesn’t want to stand out very much though, so she decides to learn basic things about the world to better integrate herself into her society. She does this in every universe, and it’s the beginning of her getting attached and looking toward the future.
Current RyoKiyuu dynamic: Kiyuu considers Ryoko as her temporary shelter because she’s the person Kiyuu trusts the most. She depends on her to teach her basic knowledge that she might have forgotten (although it’s not that she forgot anything. She was sheltered on an island and therefore inexperienced, so she just doesn’t know anything in general). As she starts being able to separate her basic likes and dislikes, she sort of uses Ryoko as a test subject for her developing identity to see the general gist of how people would react and treat her accordingly. It turns out that Ryoko is NOT the type of person Kiyuu should be using as a control group because she reacts kindly and positively to most of Kiyuu's actions.
Book 2:
Less obsessed with becoming the person of her past, she decides that it’s getting hard to not be perceived and decides to create a temporary identity based on love itself.
She now spends some time figuring out and writing down her likes and dislikes. She uses a notepad Riddle gave her because she ran out of sticky notes.
Also by the end of Book 2, she has the most intense friend-crush (squish???) on Jack that she decides her side goal is to befriend Jack ASAP!!!
Book 3:
Between the end of book 2 and the start of book 3, she gets a cut on her cheek that heals slowly asf. She starts studying her physical self because this incident makes her recognize how different she is from others.
She starts thinking of what love means to her so she can become it.
She starts learning all that she can about this world, not for integration but because she wants to. Also through this knowledge, she can create a better current identity. She realizes she doesn’t like feeling unfulfilled/unwhole.
She’s still fixated on her past identity but she’s less worried about her past identity and her current identity clashing.
She wants to become love because she thinks it’s wonderful. Because she has an abundance of it. Because she wanted to be loved by her father too. And maybe if she had become love itself, it would have been easier for him to accept her. …? Either way, she thinks that’s the best self she can become.
This is the reason why she wants to have an identity based on love in every universe.
Book 4:
Kiyuu experiences a drowning despair over being locked in a Scarabia room. She understands it’s a phobia and phobias are usually irrational, but also notices that this feels more like it’s caused by something in the past. The past she does not remember. Why does she feel this way when she can’t even remember what happened? Why, why, why, what happened to her and why can’t she remember?
She spirals about the feelings that were slowly stacking. Of course it bothers her that she can’t feel as deeply as others. Of course it bothers her that she may not be learning everything she can because she can’t help but feel indifferent. If she went home, would she become whole?
If someone could explain the rest of herself, would that fix something in her? Or, at least, would she be able to accept this part of her too?
She needs to go home.
Book 5:
Has calmed down a little. The cut on her cheek has fully healed. Less frustrated about herself and is now finally trying to decipher WHY she feels the way she does since she knows the whats.
For those issues that bother her, she makes up her mind to try harder to make up for it. She starts using ‘heavy’ words to make up for her duller senses. She thinks using those heavier words help her feel deeper about things.
Other than that, she decides to want to know EVERYTHING she can about this world, and properly, even with her condition. She tries many different learning methods and searches for the best one.
She really does start trying harder, but at the same time, she tells herself to accept that it might not solve her problems to the degree she wants it to.
As she starts learning more about herself, she realizes she hasn’t thought about going home in a while. And she starts getting a little scared. But for now, she ignores those feelings because she wants to focus on her current issues.
(Also started a QPR with Jack during this so now she’s more attached to twst).
Book 6:
She can’t stop herself from thinking about home, but the word is now under a different context. When Ramshackle is attacked and Grim is taken, she immediately feels that grief that she had once imagined she would feel.
She wants to try deciphering these feelings too, but she doesn’t have any sort of time to be worrying about that, so she shoves it down.
She decides she wants to be able to protect the things she loves. In her mind, she decides she wants to protect her home, but she thinks of home and thinks of Ryoko and Grim. She doesn’t realize this right now because she’s too busy worrying about Grim.
At the end of the book, her thoughts of home barge in again, as if telling her to decipher the meaning of it properly. So she does and finds out her meaning of home might have shifted.
She didn’t want that. She wants to go home, but what is she supposed to do if her home is here? Then there’s no point of her anchor. No, she can’t let this place be her home. Her home has to stay linked to her past, or else what will happen to it?
Is she fine with abandoning her past identity? Is she fine with abandoning her potential family? She’s not, right? So why? So why, so why, so why? Why is the meaning changing? More than that, why is she letting it change?
Book 7:
I like writing these at the end of the books, so it’s not here. for now. teehee~*
a/n: I like to make these!!! I feel like it really helps define what Kiyuu feels and her turmoil as times passes.
I want to talk abt RyoKiyuu so bad. bc lowkey theyre so sad, with how they contrast each other. but @kathxrat-01 has to join me on it bc im scared im going to misinterpret ryoko somehow. i’d literally die if that happened.
GIVE ME A RYOKIYUUJACK THING PLZPZLPLZPZ I NEED KIYUU YAPPING AND RYOKO LISTENING AND THEN A CONSTRASTING DRAWING OF RYOKO YAPPING AND JACK LISTENING (good luck bro)
