Hairstyle Name: Ryou-Hyougo (両兵庫) lit. “Double Army Warehouse”
This variation of the hyougo-mage features a double, rather than a single, loop at the highest point of the topknot. This hairstyle was reserved for the highest-ranked courtesans known as Oiran. The artist Kitagawa Utamaro often portrayed them in his prints.
