DWC Nov 19/20 - Day 3/4

Words: Morose/Strength -- Surrender/Tranquility

It had been a long… Well, Everything. A long week, a long month…. a long year. The anxieties and fears, the trepidation and the heartache, over and again, had piled up add-nauseum over, and over again, and it had weighed the dragon down. Heavy was the mix of emotion that burdened the poor dear, from the past, so much history, lost in one fell swoop, one of their last safe places to venture, gone. They, like many, were still processing the loss, both of life, and that rich history, not just their own, but all.

And worst of all? Yet again, They would have to be strong.. They had no time to mourn. They had no time to wallow in the sorrow that threatened to envelope a shadow-addled mind. Just like every other loss suffered in the past fifteen years, they had to push through. Through the healing and recouperation of their consort, who had nearly been paralyzed by the fall, through the fighting and diplomatic dealings of getting accustomed to the Earthen, and aiding their plight here in Dornogol... to their own loss.. They must become blind to it all. Again.

Mingling that with the explosion, the blast wave of void charged arcana that had knocked them for a loop and free of the sky, and Rythyren was having a hell of a time coping alone. But they weren't alone in this moment, were they? No. She was here. Their greatest torment and deepest release. Their longest standing partner and confidant, who they had wrestled heartache and pain alongside, who had been there for them as they for her. Who understood it took more than intimacy for love, more than promises for eternity. The bath had helped. When their teleport had been so strongly off kilter than they wound up in her bathing chambers aboard her ship, it had helped to just.. fall in.. To be taken into those arms and simply let themself fall apart. There was a time they were afraid to do so. That they felt they were forced to be strong for her, to protect her, when they had lost their mutual mate, years ago... and since. Every time she had a pitfall Ryth felt they needed to be strong for her, Their beautiful Irridessa. Once more, sorrow hit, as they curled up into bed, after she had so graciously taken care of them, even carrying them to the bed. The strong, capable Commodore was anything but weak, and she proved it with her tender care of the crumbling dragon, so lost in the twists and turns of their own mind. Settling in next to her as she covered them with the covers felt like the weight was lifted, despite the whispering ramblings in their mind of not being good enough, not being what she wanted, never being able to provide what their beloved pirate craved. The whispers slowly silenced themselves at her reassurances, and they let their senses be robbed by the gentle embrace of one who had loved, but let them roam, knowing, eventually, every time... They would come home.

In this moment, they could let go of the world. In this moment, they could simply be.. and they closed their eyes, nuzzling up and under her chin as their arms wrapped around her, finally, after a year of keeping it together, they let themself simply.. be.

🍐 What is your OC’s mentality? Are they overall positive? Negative? A bit of both? Describe their thought patterns and reasoning behind their choice making! { For any/all of your WoW OCs! }

Well then, lets see..... This is going to be a bit of writing, I think, so bear with me!

Jarethius: The wild, rowdy pirate with a history darker that an old god's bedchambers. He's surprisingly outgoing, friendly, even, to most. From allies to enemies he can crack a joke and smile, until he's pissed off anyway. The man is a ticking timebomb of trauma and depression rolled into a pretty, but scarred up face. He *tries* to make friends, but tends to end up swiving things up one way or another. He has a good heart, despite everything that has happened to him, however, and most of his heavy choices come at the cost of himself, to protect those he is closest to.

He has a somewhat jaded thought process these days, believing himself worth less than those around him and thereby taking greater risks to ensure everyone else's safety. This has been counteracted numerous occasions as of late with a certain brother, lover, and lover's kin attempting to knock some bloody sense into his head.

Jaredian: Soft spoken, gentle and kind, a nobleman just as he was raised, but more-so than that, a good man. His past no less dark than his twin's; though he handled it by far differently. Somewhat introverted, shy around strangers, he can be slow to open up and show what he is really thinking, however he knows how, when he must, to play the room, as well. Borderline optimistic with cynical leanings, he *wants* desperately to believe in the good around him but isn't willing to just take the chance, as being a single father after a rather horribly failed marriage has taught him how important it is to look twice before you jump.

Azrael: Exceptionally extroverted, loves a party, loves spending time with the younger races. He's especially attached to elves and humans, thinking them the most entertaining creations on Azeroth to befriend and study in equal measure.

A dragon of quite some many years, he may have forgotten more than some will ever know, though he's spent more than half that time asleep {As greens are wont to do.} Now he cannot seem to get enough of the world around him and studying how it's changed, {as well as flirting rather heavily with any pretty man he sees, but that's beside the point.} A strong motivation for him is that he has slept away most of the changes in Azeroth, locked in the emerald dream. Now that he's awake he wants to experience *as much* as he can, for good, or for ill.

Rythyren: A dragon with far less years that their adoptive kin, they have none the less seen a myriad of tragedy. Being raised amongst the mortal races left a heavy toll on a once sweet and open heart. No-where near the easygoing nature they had many years ago, they are guarded, cynical, jaded.

New experiences are met with distrust and trepidation, new relations with a mask of friendliness and a guarded heart. They are always expecting the other shoe to drop, metaphorically, and just waiting on the *when*. Ever the diplomat, a smile can often be seen upon their features, however that does not necessarily mean they're open.

Varathros: This snarky redhead is a bit of a conundrum when answering this question. He can be both extroverted AND introverted, depending on the situation and when it suits his pleasure at the time.

His thought process is a bit of a mystery, that comes from an overly complicated past that he doesn't talk to anyone about, much less think about, himself. Constantly on the run from the memories that would otherwise swallow him whole.

For Any: Have you ever been close to death?

Rythyren bit their bottom lip, a frown touching soft, pale features. "Yes." Shifting slightly in their seat, they crossed their legs, plucking up their teacup, and stirring it slowly as they continued to speak in a muted tone. "I once was, let us say.. exceptionally reckless... for the sake of those I cared about, at the time. Saving their lives was the only thing on my mind."

A pause was given, before they set the teacup aside. "I was serving as a contractor within the argent crusade. We were on a relief mission to Pandaria. Our unit had been sent to help with an outcropping of cultists in one of the coastal villages." The dragon hummed quietly. "Our airship was attacked, on it's way to the shore. An ambush set by those that we had come there to confront, alongside the mogu that they were working with. The ship was struck, one of the turbines overloaded, and exploded, causing the airship to ... well.. crash..." They sighed. "I took to the air of course, I cast a spell to slow the airship's movement, I was doing my best to fight off the attackers, but the ship was rather large and I.. well.. I am not so much..." They seemed to grow distant for a moment. "It was still moving too fast... Those that I had grown to know, to care for, aboard... there was very, very little chance they would survive.. So I did the only thing I could think of.. magic spent, I shoved myself up under the broken turbine.. carved a lasting scar between my wings in the process, but managed to slow her descent enough that there were minimal casualties when we hit. In my.. brilliance... I was trapped under the airship. Underwater. I managed to shift back into my visage but by then the air was free of my lungs and I was fighting a losing battle with consciousness from the wound in my back... which, yes. Does persist in my visage, should you be curious." They glanced away once more. "Those I had saved, saved me in turn... elsewise... I would not be here today."

11. In a world where people can live potentially forever and everyone ages at different rates and with different milestones, how do you decide who’s mature and who’s not?

Rythyren pondered the question for a moment, before deciding to pipe up, since no one else seemed to be in the talking mood. "That's certainly a question. Let us see if we can unravel it a touch. First you have to ask the question of what you mean by 'mature.'" They paused for a moment, before continuing. "Every race aging at different milestones would be one point, certainly. You would have to take into account what age each race reaches their version of being considered an adult, first and foremost. Now, to this, it changes as years turn on. What would have been one number years ago has progressed to another as society evolves." They sat, cross legged, cradling a cup of tea as their head tilted to one side, and sapphire eyes sparkled with violet limbal rings aglow. "Let us take humans, as the base, as most do, and consider that the general 'accepted' age of maturity is eighteen. This is what society has decided is when one's mind is considered by rote of the populace acceptable to be tret as an adult." They paused, before continuing once more. "I would, however, argue, that a human, and keeping in mind this is a generalization.. Does not reach true maturity until their mid twenties, at the earliest. When their hormones are more likely to have settled into a steady rhythm. The same can be said for each race and their respective milestone. If a creature lives thousands of years, the aging process may be slower, however even if their physical representation appears to be an adult, who is to say if the mind has caught up into that level of maturity? While one can be considered 'an adult', this does not make them mature, nor wise, though we aren't currently talking about the latter, now are we?"

Jaredian blinks. "Well.. I read quite often, and I tend to stay by myself when I am having... a problematic day.. I do not know if that is considered healthy, or unhealthy, but I find a good book, or a nap, elsewise a good cup of steaming tea tend to help ease most worldly troubles. ---- Jarethius frowns, turning away. "Used tae... Got me in trouble.. Been tryin tae get better about it.. Cannae drink an smoke like I used tae... and the other thin's.. well... When nobody's interested that tends tae go by the wayside, ye know?" He shrugged idly, though he was still frowning. ---- Azrael chuckles. "Oh yes. Carving, Gardening, Teasing my darling consort... and napping. Napping often works!" ---- Rythyren nibbles on their lower lip, before glancing across the room at the *multitude* of sketchbooks, journals, trinkets, enchanted items, art supplies, and various other knickknacks. "Um... No.. No not at all. Whatever would I need to cope for?"

Rythyren taps their chin for a moment, before humming. "Much has happened over the past few months that has been.. unpleasant.. to put it mildly, however I suppose I did learn something not only interesting but useful... I learned to weave nerubian silks. A friendly little one... I think they call them 'weave rats'? Showed me how while I was in a particularly unpleasant mindset, to help me clear my head. a sweet little spider dear... odd thing to say now that I think about it, but it was pleasant, and quite interesting none the less!"
