I think in general achievements are a dangerous thing for game design because most of the time they serve as ridiculous timesinks for their own sake because you want coveted achievements few have. So for people inclined to Complete The Video Game it's adding stupid bullshit in. I think in-built motivation factors are a lot more interesting and a healthier expectation for game completion
