⊹ EPIPHANY ⊹ [Week 1] City in Turmoil — Board B ━━━━━━━MUSES━━━━━━━ Ivy (played by Byun) Duo 1 Elffin (played by Kanoesa) Duo 1 Alear (
(Ferdinand Von Aegir has been yapping for 7.29 minutes.) "--And you see, Mercedes, as exemplars of faith one must conclude that the piety of nobility rests on our shoulders. Commoners look to us as the predominant examples of devotion. If we should continue to pray, I am most certain that they will latch their fingers on our coat tails and follow in pursuit!"
"What say you, Mercedes? Do you not think--" The very few others that were praying in their company had since vacated the premise.
"Oh." He blinked. "Perhaps I got ahead of myself there. I was rather pleased that you were here. I will not slack in your company while you hold fast to the placards of our faith."
(oh yapperman, never stop yapping!)
She stands before him, listening intently, at least for the most part. He does talk for an awfully long time. Mercedes is sure she's caught the most important parts though she does find herself stifling a yawn. Her cheeks bloom rosy and her grin turns sheepish.
"Forgive me, I had a late night in the library," a lie, she'd gone to bed at 10pm and slept like a baby. It's a white lie though, one she's more comfortable with than potentially hurting his feelings. Mercedes has ample experience with men like Ferdinand, from similar backgrounds. Knows of their cunning, their insincerity, their bravado - all things Ferdinand seems to lack. His talk of nobles and commoners grasping at coattails could have fallen from her stepfather's mouth but his eyes gleam with honest dedication. He speaks passionately, with a sincerity that she finds disarming. Ferdinand may be a product of his upbringing but there's far more to it, a sincere faith and compassion that bleeds into his every word. Mercedes believes that his heart is in the right place, even if his mouth hasn't quite caught up yet. "Ferdinand, you do realise I'm a commoner, right? It's not something I'm ashamed of or trying to hide...."
She laughs, light, bright and airy. Not at him but with him. A gesture to keep their conversation genial and warm. There's always room to grow, she knows she's no exception. Mercedes finds herself believing in him, in his convictions and faith. She'd be a poor shepherd of the goddess and her church to turn away from such sincerity and virtue for being a touch unpolished.
"I'm not sure I entirely agree, though... it would certainly be nice if more nobles lived their faith, rather than don it as a costume to be discarded when inconvenient. There's place for everyone in the goddess's embrace, regardless of circumstance," Mercedes offers him a smile, warm and truly genuine. She holds out a hand, an offer of friendship. "I'd be happy to pray with you! I was going to help the bishops distribute food donations after, if you'd like to join me, we'd be ever so grateful for an extra pair of hands."
as the festivities swept across Garreg Mach, the Black Eagles' finest noble found himself partaking in a time-honored tradition—one that celebrates the warmth of camraderie and the strengthening of bonds. it was a moment to reflect on the journey thus far, the barriers overcome, and the converging paths that took them towards a single star.
"Instructor Elincia! Good day, and happy holidays." he glided towards her with ease, matching her pace as they walked through the snow. she looked glowing, especially when blanketed with white, white blessings. "I simply wanted to thank you for being such an excellent instructor for the Black Eagles. Your mind is brilliant, and your sense on the field is second to none. I insist that we catch up soon, because there's so much more to learn from you."
"in the meantime, I, Ferdinand Von Aegir, come not as your student, but as a festive envoy. I thought of you as I prepared this gift, down to the very last detail."
inside, she will find a wrapped bag filled with sugared chestnuts and vanilla dipped cocoa beans. a fabric hyacinth was attached by the stem with decadant lace, all handpicked by yours truly. "may you have a lovely Yuletide! the year may be coming to a close, but I am gladdened by the fact I will see you in the upcoming year, too."
In between classes, Elincia takes the time to adjust the wreaths and garlands decorating her classroom. She expects most of her students are in the dining hall right now. Perhaps now is the perfect time to sneak out and refill the bowl of festive cookies she keeps on her desk.
No sooner is she out the door than she finds herself face to face with Ferdinand von Aegir himself. Ever enthusiastic and conscientious, she naturally assumes he's come for office hours with the intention to push himself to further heights. It warms her heart to see her students working so hard and engaging with her classes. Though Yuletide is supposed to be a season of celebration and she sincerely hopes he isn't overworking himself.
"Ferdinand, how wonderful to see you! If you need to discuss anything, I'll be back once I've refilled the cookies-- oh!" Her cheeks flush at the kind praise, caught by surprise but ever so grateful. She offers him a bright smile. "My office hours are always open, Ferdinand. Though I must insist you enjoy the festivities first."
Elincia accepts the gift eagerly, the smell alone almost heavenly and delicious. What a thoughtful present, she thinks as the scent of sugar and vanilla invite her to feast on the snacks inside.
"Oh Ferdinand, this is far too kind! Thank you very much for being my Winter Envoy. May you have a wonderful Yuletide!" Reaching up, she gives him a gentle pat on the shoulder. "I consider myself very lucky to have the privilege of teaching you. I look forward to seeing you in the New Year."

Her vision grows dark for several minutes before it brightens again. She finds herself in what appears to be a crowded arena. There is an immediate rush to gather equipment and introduce herself to her teammates. A quiet, polite professor, friendly young gentleman and a timid blue haired girl she’d seen in class join her and Tana has no idea what to expect.
The projectionists work is impeccable. She freezes for a moment, unable to move. Their opponents look so real she has to remind herself this is merely an illusion.
One that might just save them from this complicated tale.
Tana acts first, hefting the axe up to her shoulders and giving it a practice swing before approaching the recruit. She takes a deep breath and prepares to fight her way out of this mess and back to the monastery. Tana intends to make an impression, prove herself and rally her allies too.

Her guard is let down though and she takes a jab from the lance to her side. It smarts slightly but Tana doesn’t lose the cheerful grin on her face. She imagines Eirika and Ephraim, her dear friends, and how they would never give up so easily. Tana won’t fall here too and retreats back to the others with her hands raised, ready to high five the next challenger.

[ HEARTFELT CARD ] A small table hosts a myriad of card supplies, including paper, markers, and glue. Put your crafting skills to the test and make something truly one-of-a-kind.
"I'll be the first to say it." Ferdinand sighed, shifting an envelope with a heart on it from one hand to the next with a pinch of regret. it looked as if he had designed the envelope himself, as curled writing with 'HILDA' was scrawled beautifully on the front. he had a dozen or so reasons to have approached her in the past, but none rang truer than the reasons he came to her now. his impression of her was off, and he thought himself impossibly presumptuous. "I was wrong."
"I'm sorry, Hilda. I used to believe a noble like you should have presented differently. I assumed you slothen." absolutely did not need to admit that, but he sure did. "but after all you've done for Aegir, I had been turned, inside-out. you have done more for me and my people than I have ever done for you."
he sighed. "inside is my heartfelt apology. oh. and though it isn't much, perhaps you could teach me..." he brought out a very unkempt looking friendship bracelet. a child could probably have done better. "...how to make these? I wanted to make one for you, but just look at it. you needn't accept it, nor me. but I thought to go out with not a bang, but the smoke that comes after."
Hilda had to say, her curiosity sparked when the Adrestian approached her looking somehow like a kicked dog. Though the two had not engaged too frequently outside of mandatory joint classes and training exercises, she had no trouble in picking up the signals that he was not overly fond of her laziness.
So, as he launched into his torrent, she considered her interest piqued; even more so when he presented the handmade envelope. For a moment, she wondered if he was joking, but as she unfolded the paper and skimmed the script inside, she felt her heart swelling.
"Oh, Ferdinand!" Impulsively, she threw her arms around his neck, standing on her tiptoes to reach. "There is nothing to forgive. I can be... lackadaisical," she decided on the word which sounded the nicest, "but it's only because I'm no good at most things. Even in Aegir, it was Shez, really, who led the way."
She took in his attempt at bracelet-weaving and supressed a smile, but it was not an unkind one. "This, though, I can certainly help you with! You'll have to teach me something in return, heehee!"

"Ferdinand it is, then. Honestly I much prefer Elincia without any grand titles. Especially amongst friends."
They're not friends - at least not yet. However they are classmates, attending a ball, no less.
Elincia hopes it clarifies her intentions.
"The craftsman ship truly is excellent. I myself am far from home at the moment. Even within my own kingdom, I've never found much occasion for anything so bold and intricate..."
She thinks back to the outfits she wore in Crimea. Long, flowing but simple dresses whilst enjoying leisure time with her milk siblings. Light, sensible clothing when helping with household chores. Perhaps, most searing of all in her mind was the armour she wore out to battle - to protect her homeland and it's people. Most children imagined the life of a princess, now queen, to be glamourous. Whilst she had wanted for very little, fashion was a new concept to her. One she liked very much, that intrigued her deeply and she longed to learn more about. It wasn't really something she'd had a chance to indulge in before though.
"If you could pass on my regards for her work, I'd very much appreciate that! However," she lowers her voice to a whisper, almost conspiratorially, "if you could let me know where to find her, I'd consider myself truly blessed."
"My wardrobe could use a couple of new pieces and whilst importing from Crimea itself isn't a problem," Elincia pondered her words carefully, "I wouldn't wish to burden my lord uncle with finding me clothes. For my sake and his."
"Oh, I've already filled my stamp card but I thought I'd put any extras on the back." Elincia says sheepishly. "It's not that I regard these people any less, I see the blank space as somewhere to record new, happy memories. Hopefully with new friends."
"Marianne! Dorte is in good form today!" Ferdinand walked up to her in greeting, with Valor pacing comfortably behind him. "I have always admired the way you and your steed seem to understand each other implicitly."
"here you are..." procuring an apple from his satchel, he beamed all too brightly at his colleague. "for Dorte!"
walking off with several tasks in mind, he is already half a-ways away before he jolted his back straight in realization. "oh!"
"that is right, how could I forget?" he rushes back to pull a very tiny horse figurine, the size of half his index, to place in her hands. "...and for the lady!" tada!
"I have been attempting to whittle, lately. Dorte is a fine model!"
"Ah! Oh, Ferdinand, it's only you. So sorry." Lost in thought, Marianne startles at the sound of another's voice. The tension in her shoulders doesn't completely ease but she manages to greet Ferdinand with a bow of her head. She keeps her gaze trained to the floor for a moment as she explains herself. "Um, not that it's only you. Just that it's a relief to see a kind face."
Her heart still races but she manages a weak smile. Not because her father would want her to do so but because, bold and bright as Ferdinand is, the complete opposite of herself, she finds it hard to doubt his sincerity.
The fact he recognises her closeness to Dorte might have made her day, too.
"Oh, I--" her instinct is to deny the compliment but instead she flushes slightly, biting her lip. "Thank you, I think it's mostly Dorte that deserves the praise though. He's very patient with me."
"Valor's eyes are always brightest when he sees you."
Her hand reaches out for the apple, fingers curling around it as he walks away. Before she knows it, he's rushing back and she almost drops it in surprise when he reveals a tiny, wooden figurine just for her.
"Ferdinand-- you really shouldn't have. Um, sorry, I am grateful I just--" Marianne hardly thinks herself deserving of such kindness. It's far easier to accept a gift for Dorte than for herself. In her head she hears Margrave Edmund's voice, scolding her for her lack of manners. Her free hand curls for a moment as she takes a deep breath before extending to accept Ferdinand's craft. "If you're truly sure, thank you. It's wonderful. Would.. would you like to feed this to Dorte? Maybe he and Valor could share it?"
"We wouldn't want Dorte getting too spoiled, after all." She adds with a light but tense giggle.
